But it was only hot outside, and generally I only walked outside between one air-conditioned place to another.

Heat, heat and more heat for a couple of days. Conversation about the weather is the last refuge of the unimaginative.
Oscar Wilde Serious note: be careful, stay hydrated, keep an eye on friends and the fur babies. Oscar Wilde must have been a city boy. I grew up with a farmer for a granddad. Weather was deadly serious for him and a consistent conversation topic. I contrast that with my late father in law who grew up in the Bronx. Weather was trivial to him except when he wondered whether he should wear a heavy coat or take an umbrella. He never seemed to feel heat, only cold.

Major safety consideration: antennas in a thunderstorm.

What started out as a one person "come over for a Corvette engine cleaning session", turned into an impromptu Summer cookout with ten attendees while some of us were cleaning the engines.
One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well.

We had an "ice cream social" at a local dairy last evening. It brought up memories of my bachelorhood:
She could not have gazed at him with a more rapturous intensity if she had been a small child and he a saucer of ice cream.
P. G. Wodehouse
(Like that ever happened)
While searching for a car wash quote yesterday, I came upon this little gem:
He looked at my lips. I suddenly found myself wanting to lick his. 'Yes,' he replied, his eyes going molten. My breath caught in my throat as he reached out and brushed a strand of hair where it had flown across my cheek. 'I believe we do have unfinished business.' 'Good.' I gulped, suddenly one big mass of tingling body parts that wanted an immediate introduction to all of his body parts. I tried to slam down a mental barrier between his mind and mine, but it did no good. The cheerleaders in my groin were setting up fundraising car washes to finance a field trip to his groin.

Luck is a thing that comes in many forms and who can recognize her?
Ernest Hemingway
I feel the need to explain the above quote. Here's my "World of the Mundane" entry for today:
"A little St Anthony, a little St Jude and a little Luck of the Irish" edition. To recap: could not locate my checkbook anywhere in the house, in the Sonata my wife's car, or anywhere "normal" people would have put it. Decided I had to give BB2 a major once over since I had a recollection it was the last place I had the checkbook in. I moved the driver's seat all the way up to look underneath. I see a coin. Its a 5P coin from Ireland dated 1980. Have absolutely NO idea how it got there. Moving on, I pushed the seat cover over and voila` there's the checkbook ! Mission complete ! The coin is now in BB2's fob case for continued luck. I may have to buy some lottery tickets.
Some background on the coin itself:
Decimal coinage, marked in p, as opposed to the previous d, was introduced on Decimal Day, 15 February 1971.
It was replaced by the euro, and euro cents on 1 January 1999, but the old money, such as your coin, remained legal tender until 9 February 2002.

Never put an age limit on your dreams.
Dara Torres
In case you don't know Ms Torres:
Dara Grace Torres (born April 15, 1967) is an American former competitive swimmer, who is a 12-time Olympic medalist and former world record-holder in three events. Torres is the first swimmer to represent the United States in five Olympic Games (1984, 1988, 1992, 2000 and 2008), and at age 41, the oldest swimmer to earn a place on the U.S. Olympic team. At the 2008 Summer Olympics, she competed in the 50-meter freestyle, 4×100-meter medley relay, and 4×100-meter freestyle relay, and won silver medals in all three events.

Spent yesterday putting our travel documents. receipts etc in chronological order for the Caravan.
Documentation is like sex: when it is good, it is very, very good; and when it is bad, it is better than nothing.
