A school board meeting in Worthington, Ohio, was ended early this Monday after some of the attendees refused to wear masks, local news outlet WBNS reports. According to a witness speaking to WBNS, a woman and man at the meeting flashed Nazi salutes.

"It's not how you act in a community. It's all about kindness and respect and that was nothing even close," said Marcia Edwards, a parent who was at the meeting. "They made the Nazi salute. It's horrible. There's no reason for anyone to make that gesture, I mean, to me it just spells hate."

• That’s become a racist talking point for Fox News as well by the likes of Tucker Carlson and Jesse Watters.

In Tennessee a White Supremacy Karen whose kids go to private school is demanding changes to the public school curriculum. It's really getting to the point where they simply want the ears of every child plugged when it comes to America's history with race.

Robin Steenman, an Air Force veteran and white mother of three, is fed up with the way public schools in her community of Franklin, Tennessee are teaching kids about race.

She believes that the reading materials and teachers' manuals are biased, specifically the lessons taught to second graders about civil rights leaders like Martin Luther King Jr. Kids leave class believing that white people are oppressors and minorities are victims, Steenman claims.

While her only school-age child attends private school, Steenman nevertheless wants the public system, Williamson County Schools, to change its approach. She and a group of local women calling themselves “Moms for Liberty” recently asked the Tennessee Department of Education in a complaint letter to force the district to scrap that material and overhaul its curriculum.

Their protests have made Williamson County the first test of a new Tennessee law that bans the teaching of ideas linked to “critical race theory,” an academic framework that examines how racism has shaped American society.

The clash in Franklin, a Nashville suburb of 83,000 people, is part of a larger culture war over race and education that’s roiling other U.S. communities, and which has gained traction as a political force nationwide.

So what is the real history of this region? And how do they approach this history? Yeeeeaaaah.

Another local group of parents believes some of their neighbors want schools to avoid hard truths about the history of American race relations, including in Williamson County. The area is home to former slave plantations now open to tourists. Franklin’s public square, where a Confederate monument stands, was the site of an antebellum slave market and the 1888 lynching of a Black man by the Ku Klux Klan.

Some have pushed the district to address what they say is a long-standing pattern of racial insensitivity toward minority students in this 82% white county, including field trips to historical sites they claim have glorified the Confederacy and soft-peddled the evils of human bondage.

“Overall, it’s a beautiful community,” said Tizgel High, a Black mother of three. “But these battles, they get tiresome. You’re sort of constantly fighting for your humanity.”

Anybody shocked that this was at a Christian university?

A Methodist University sorority has been suspended “indefinitely” after a white member led a pageant-like presentation critiquing the looks of Black football players and comparing them to white athletes.

In a since-deleted Facebook post, an Alpha Delta Pi sorority member could be seen standing in front of a screen that showed photos of Black football players at the school in a PowerPoint presentation. According to The Fayetteville Observer, images of the athletes had captions such as “large nostrils” or “big lips.” The presentation also disapproved of locked hairstyles, with the Black athletes’ attractiveness rated in comparison to more white standards of beauty.

In a statement released Sept. 21, officials at the North Carolina university condemned the stunt, saying the school “is committed to principles of diversity, equity, inclusion and justice.”

Yeah the dudes were trolling.  They wanted the reaction and the argument that followed.  The problem is this is a no win situation for the camera person.  She'll not get what she wants, which is for the dudes to leave, and she'll be held up to the white world as one of mouthy black women that are rude, a "Karen" who is black.

Fallout begins for far-right trolls who trusted Epik to keep their identities secret


The colossal hack of Epik, an Internet-services company popular with the far right, has been called the “mother of all data lodes” for extremism researchers. Some of those named in the data have already lost their jobs.

In the real world, Joshua Alayon worked as a real estate agent in Pompano Beach, Florida, where he used the handle “SouthFloridasFavoriteRealtor” to urge buyers on Facebook to move to “the most beautiful State.”

But online, data revealed by the massive hack of Epik, an internet-services company popular with the far right, signaled a darker side. Alayon’s name and personal details were found on invoices suggesting he had once paid for websites with names such as racisminc.com, whitesencyclopedia.com, christiansagainstisrael.com and theholocaustisfake.com.

After Alayon’s name appeared in the breached data, his brokerage, Travers Miran Realty, dropped him as an agent, as first reported by the real estate news site Inman. The brokerage’s owner, Rick Rapp, told The Washington Post that he didn’t “want to be involved with anyone with thoughts or motives like that.”

Asked why his name, email address and other personal information were listed in company invoices for the “racisminc” and Holocaust-denial domains, Alayon said the data was “easily falsifiable,” that he was the possible victim of extortion and that The Post was “fake news.”

Now that Carlson is going full bore Replacement Theory the rest of the Republican klan is jumping on the bandwagon. Since the Trump years started their racism has gone from being apologetic or dog whistles. It's out in the open now.

In recent years, the “great replacement” conspiracy theory has inspired white terrorists around the world, including two American synagogue shooters, the El Paso Walmart shooter, and the Christchurch, New Zealand mosque shooter.

Gunmen motivated by the theory have killed 99 people since 2018, according to a report from the Global Project Against Hate and Extremism in July last year.

One of the authors of that report, Wendy Via, noted in an interview that the conspiracy theory had become shockingly commonplace among mainstream Republican politicians and conservative commentators.

“It is like night-and-day in terms of people using this phrasing,” since last year, Via said.

The conspiracy theory is now asserted unapologetically: In April, when Carlson said Democrats were “trying to replace the current electorate, the voters now casting ballots, with new people, more obedient voters, from the third world,” the Anti-Defamation League called for his firing and Fox Corporation CEO Lachlan Murdoch offered a meager defense of the host.

This time, Carlson skipped the formalities. “Fuck them,” he said of the ADL in an interview with Megyn Kelly Friday.

Republican politicians and pundits seem to sense the wind changing.

Last month, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said “the anti-American left would love to drown traditional classic Americans with as many people as they can who know nothing of American history, nothing of American tradition, nothing of the rule of law.”

This month, Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), the third-ranking Republican in the U.S. House, released an ad warning of a “permanent election insurrection” if Democrats’ are able to provide a path to citizenship to millions of undocumented immigrants — which she referred to as an effort to “overthrow our current electorate.”

A few days later, Rep. Brian Babin (R-TX) referred to Democrats’ “open borders” strategy as key to a Democratic takeover.

“They want to replace the American electorate with a third-world electorate that will be on welfare and public assistance, put them on a path to citizenship and amnesty, enfranchise them with a vote, and they will have a permanent majority,” Babin said.

White supremacy is now a pillar of the Republican platform. Is it any wonder they didn't bother trying to pass that platform out loud prior to the 2020 election?

This has been predicted for years. A grand jury in Tennessee just let a violent felon off the hook after he attacked a BLM protest with his car. There's tons of evidence including social media posts before the incident where he joked about running over protesters. Jared Benjamin Lafer, who last September drove his SUV through a tiny assemblage of Black Lives Matter protesters in Johnson City, Tennessee, and then sped away — leaving behind a man with a concussion, brain bleed, and two broken legs — will face no charges.

On Monday, a Tennessee grand jury returned a “no true” bill — a declaration by jurors that there was not enough evidence to indict the 27-year-old even after a judge had reduced the charges against him from aggravated assault, a Class C felony, to reckless aggravated assault, a Class D felony. Among the materials that apparently left the grand jurors unmoved was cellphone video documenting Lafer rolling over the protester with his truck, narrowly missing the protester’s dog, and almost striking a second person who jumped out of the car’s unswerving path before it accelerated away from the scene.

The same footage made the rounds on social media last year as Tennessee police conducted a two-day manhunt for the hit-and-run driver, who they identified as Lafer after witnesses identified his out-of-state licence plate number. Lafer never returned to the scene to check on his victim, but instead drove to his home state of North Carolina, hired a lawyer to talk with the cops on the case, and turned himself in two days after committing the crime.

By the time of the arrest, Lafer’s earlier social media posts joking about running over protesters had been scrubbed from the internet, preserved only in screengrabs captured by a local progressive news site.

Victoria Hewlett, who was sitting in a parked car with her husband at an intersection just yards from the scene, told The Daily Beast that protesters were crossing the road in a pattern consistent with the walk signal. She says that Lafer pulled up behind her car, then swerved around her vehicle “pretty aggressively,” before rounding the corner and driving “directly into where the protesters were in the crosswalk.” She says — and Jonathan Bowers, Lafer’s primary victim, also states in a hospital-bed affidavit and subsequent testimony — that Lafer rolled slowly, without breaking, into the intersection, “bumped” him with his truck, and then suddenly “floored” the vehicle, running him over and leaving him unconscious in the road.

This is just the start of the violence. I have no illusions that it's remotely crested.

A staff member at an elementary school in Newberg, Oregon, came to work on Friday in blackface and allegedly claimed she was portraying Rosa Parks as part of a protest against a vaccine mandate for school staff.

Details of the incident at Mabel Rush Elementary School were relayed to The Newberg Graphic by an unnamed staff member, who said that Lauren Pefferle, a special education assistant, had used iodine to darken her face and called herself Rosa Parks while protesting mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations for school staff in Oregon.

When that message and others like it she’d sent were made public, Clanton was in her fifth year as second-in-command at the right-wing campus group and hotbed of bigotry Turning Point USA; TPUSA head Charlie Kirk had previously called Clanton the organization’s “best hire” and claimed that “Turning Point needs more Crystals; so does America.” Her next stop was a highly visible media position with Ginni Thomas, wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and “Stop the Steal” conspiracy theorist. This spring, Clanton will graduate from law school at George Mason University School and step into her most prestigious role yet, clerking for federal appeals court judge William Pryor.

The infamous Unite the Right rally had private funding. Hmmmmm. What are the odds that at least a chunk of that money came from Russia? After seeing their investment in the NRA I'd say odds are pretty damn good.

Organizers of a deadly 2017 white supremacist rally had “private funding,” allowing at least one to make hate a “full-time” job, exhibits in a bombshell lawsuit suggest.

In August 2017, a coalition of far-right figures marched on Charlottesville, Virginia, during “Unite The Right,” a two-day fascist festival. The event ended in catastrophe when a neo-Nazi drove his car into a crowd of counter-demonstrators, murdering one and injuring others. Survivors of the attack filed a sweeping lawsuit (Sines v. Kessler) against Unite The Right’s organizers, who have attempted to distance themselves from the event’s bloodshed. But a tranche of more than new 3,000 exhibits, entered by plaintiffs last week, suggest that Unite The Right’s organizers collaborated closely on the event, even running their own “nonprofit” groups for funding.

Defendants in the suit have previously attempted to downplay their culpability in Unite The Right’s chaos, describing the rally as loosely organized and not intentionally violent. But text messages to and from defendant Elliott Kline, a key Unite The Right organizer, suggest significant coordination and funding.

In one text message, Kline appears to describe a breakup that resulted from his involvement with white supremacist groups. In the message, he describes an upcoming, well-paid job with the white supremacist group Identity Evropa.

“I’m about to double down in the movement harder than i already have,” Kline wrote. “I asked her if she thought it was a good idea. She was excited. And now she wants out. It’s too late for me to turn it down now. Half the reason I took the opportunity was because I knew I'd be able to support her with it. It’s secret but I'm taking over IE [Identity Evropa] from nathan and I'm going to be paid from private donors some good money.”

The John Birch Society is trying to ride COVID protests back to a position of influence.

On a sunny Saturday in a Knoxville, Tennessee park, a man with a microphone told a crowd of parents to bar entry to their children’s schools.

“Starting Monday morning and until this is over, we need to bring Knox County schools to a screeching halt,” he said to applause. He called on parents, students, and staff to participate. “We have a moral obligation to our children’s future. Block the entrance to the school with your car. That’s my suggestion. Block the entrance to the drive—don’t even let a bus in your schools. If you can be that bold in your groups, do it.”

The event, “Parents In The Park” was billed as a meet-up for parents who objected to a mask mandate in Knox County schools. But the Sept. 26 gathering was more than just concerned caregivers. It was organized and hosted by the John Birch Society (JBS), a far-right organization that found the peak of its power in the 1960s and ’70s—when it fought civil rights legislation, attracted segregationists, and believed that communists were poisoning Americans with fluoride—before rejection by mainstream conservatives sent it into decline. But the organization has made efforts to rebuild since the 2010s. And in its opposition to COVID-19 restrictions, the once-fringe group is hoping to tap into a popular right-wing grievance.

A Facebook event for the “Parents In The Park” event described it as hosted by the JBS’s Tennessee chapter. That chapter’s “field director” Jon Schrock also spoke at a recent “Patriot Church” meeting about the need to demonstrate against Knox County school mask requirements.

Paul Dragu, a JBS spokesperson, confirmed that Shrock had hosted the Sept. 26 event, but said the JBS did not endorse an event speaker’s calls to block school doors with cars.

“The purpose of the event was to facilitate a gathering of parents and citizens whose main commonality was concern about the mask mandate imposed on students in the Knox County Schools district,” Dragu told The Daily Beast via email. “During the event, multiple people spoke, including a gentleman who, as evidenced by video, suggested blocking the school entrance and bringing the schools to a ‘screeching halt.’ That gentleman was not the organizer of the event nor did he represent the JBS. There was no indication beforehand he would say that.”

“Trying to”, indeed! I know I‘ve mentioned in the past (whether here or on Legacy TRS I can’t recall) the efforts among some to split the county I live in. Fortunately for us, the effort must have been a bridge too far for even Flori-DUH’s legislators to consider taking up. Turns out—and I only found out thanks to some reporting by the *college* paper (!!)—the individual behind the agitation is a big poo-bah in the state-level JBS.

As far as the last sentence in the quoted post goes, JBS is well on the way to getting its wish in Flori-DUH, too, starting with Jeb!’s rush to charter schools all the way through Supreme Emperor’s loosening of the requirements for a student to go to a private school on the taxpayer’s dime.

Ohio has decided combating racism in schools is a bad thing.

The Ohio State Board of Education has backtracked on its own efforts to fight racism, voting Wednesday evening to repeal a resolution that demanded equity for students of color.

School board members reportedly voiced concerns that the initial anti-racism resolution—crafted at the height of the George Floyd protests—would promote division, with one person going so far as to call it “a crisis in our nation and our country.” In a 10-7 vote, the board opted to replace the resolution with another that would “promote academic excellence” regardless of “race, ethnicity, or creed.”

Introduced last year by the board’s president, Laura Kohler, Resolution 20 condemned hate crimes and white supremacy, laying the groundwork for public educators to be schooled on the concept of implicit bias. It also sought to address the racial gap with test scores, advanced placement classes, graduation rates, resources in classrooms, and disciplinary measures.

At the time, Kohler acknowledged that racism is still a major problem within the Ohio school system, and “while we earnestly strive to correct [racism and inequality], we have a great deal of work left to do.”

The resolution passed in July 2020, but was challenged in September 2021 by Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost, who questioned whether or not the measure was legal—and even accused it of being counterproductive to Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy.

In a letter last month, Yost alleged the resolution was a tool “designed to establish and maintain white supremacy and racial oppression forever.”

“Honest history must be taught in our schools,” Yost continued. “Ugly chapters must be plainly taught… But so, too, should our history include the story of how the American people and our legal institutions put an end to these injustices and continue the work to guarantee equal treatment for all.”

Teachers at the Carroll Independent School District in Southlake, Texas, were shocked last week when a top district official asked them to offer students “opposing” viewpoints if they kept books about the Holocaust in their classrooms. An Oct. 8 audio recording obtained by NBC News captured Gina Peddy trying to explain a new Texas education law during a teachers’ training session on classroom library guidelines. The law, House Bill 3979, requires teachers to present “both sides” when discussing “widely debated and currently controversial issues.” Peddy said, “Make sure that if you have a book on the Holocaust, that you have one that has an opposing, that has other perspectives.”

NBC News spoke to six Carroll educators, including four who were in the room when Peddy made her remarks. They said they were worried about inconsistent, confusing messaging issued by district officials, and fear they won’t be backed up by the board if an issue arises. Days before the training, after a parent complained, the school board voted 3-2 to reprimand a teacher for having a copy of This Book Is Anti-Racist in her classroom. “Teachers are literally afraid that we’re going to be punished for having books in our classes,” one elementary school teacher said. “There are no children’s books that show the ‘opposing perspective’ of the Holocaust or the ‘opposing perspective’ of slavery. Are we supposed to get rid of all of the books on those subjects?”

Other side of the Holocaust?  There's another side to rounding up people because of who or what they were and systematically working them to death or just killing them? Mein Kampf perhaps?  

Those would be books that declare the Holocaust was Fake News.  The Charlottesville marchers probably have plenty of them.  "Teach the controversy"

Yeah I'll contribute a lot of money to send those folks off to visit Auschwitz/Birkenau.  They can stand in the test gas chamber with the door locked.
