Here we are in the height of election debate silliness...national media breathlessly reporting on "debates" between candidates, pundits chortling about mistakes, misstatements, and outright lies. Where is the voter in all this? I doubt many are watching. Are you in PA or FL watching the various performances that are happening this week? I’m in South Jersey this week. If I said EVERY TV ad is political I would not be exaggerating. Constant, unending, blatantly fear mongering. You would think Speaker Pelosi is running in the area.

From Flori-DUH: Nope, didn’t watch either the Demings-Rubio debate i or the Crist-Supreme Emperor one. The summaries I read made me glad I didn’t waste my time—pretty much repetition of the same old, same old talking points.

Here, you would swear Joe Biden is running for both Governor and the State House of Representatives. The Supreme Emperor ads are running All. The. Time. The state GOP must be at least somewhat nervous about the outcome in the State House race—I don’t think I’ve EVER seen so many “trash the Dem candidate” ads when a local race is involved. Unless their polling gurus know something I don’t, I have no clue why they’re spending the $$ on the TV ad buys. We’ve had some doozy mailers, too.

A long (i.e. impossible) shot independent candidate stands up for the country.

After watching this ad, I'm convinced DeSatanist is insane. Even Mark Halperin, of all people, doesn't know what to think. It feels like a parody.

There is a group of people that love to hear this stuff. No namby pamby "love thy neighbor" stuff for them.

Thank goodness I haven’t had the … pleasure… of watching this monstrosity on either broadcast TV or as a YouTube ad. Good Grief, talk about an attempt to invoke ye olde Divine Right of Kings! And no, it’s NOT a parody; he’s speaking to a defined audience that, as GV brought up, eats up this sort of rhetoric (they sorta forget about the “judge not, lest ye be judged” business). Even I, as used as I am to the behavior of the Supreme Emperor, wanted to hurl by the end of that vid.

Whelp at least we won't be seeing campaign ads after tonight. For that, I am grateful. For folks in PA, GA, AZ, WS, MI, and probably Ohio, there won't be results for several weeks. We'll see what fresh horrors tomorrow and the coming weeks will bring...chest thumping by Reps or howling about fraud by Reps...those are the only 2 possible outcomes I feel comfortable in predicting.

The race that I suspect will be a nauseating win and national elevation is Kari Lake. Her opponent has run a case study in incompetence against a psychopathic liar and narcissist that will make her Dumpster's biggest cheerleader (and possible VP pick). If Hobbs somehow squeaks past her, Lake will light fires under MAGAts and have the cameras on her constantly. If she becomes governor, she'll fight Florida and Texas as the focal point for MAGA attention with insane policies and antics.

Team Red 2/2 in the major Flori-DUH statewide races. AP wasted NO time calling them, either. All but FOUR (Alachua, Leon, Orange, & Broward) counties in the freaking STATE went for the Supreme Emperor (I haven’t seen a breakdown in the Senate race). Although “Little Marco” will fade out of the foreground, I predict we will see LOTS more of the Supreme Emperor doubling down on the fascism flirtation as we move through 2023.
Local races have gone more-or-less as I expected. I’m crashing.

House and Senate still too close to call this morning, although most of the projections seem to indicate House will go the the GOP and Senate will remain with Dems.
Lauren Boebert is trailing by about 2% with 93% of the vote in.

A few observations:
- Shaping up to be the best midterm election for the party in power since 2002
- It looks as if Dems will win House, Senate, and Gov in Michigan. I think this is the first time Dems win Senate in Mich in 40+ years. This is probably the most astounding result of the evening for me.
- I think the results in Florida confirm what I was already thinking: Florida is team red for the foreseeable future.

There are still a lot of vote by mail ballots to be processed and counted all over the country so I'll reserve judgment on how good or bad this turned out to be.
However one thing is clear to me. We need to ignore all the talking heads who speculate endlessly based on polls, anecdotal interviews, truisms based on past politics, and whatever their own proclivities are. They're just filling up air time and they don't really know what goes on in peoples' heads. The old saw about the presidential party always losing badly in midterm elections is perhaps no longer relevant in a post Trump Administration era. Will party affiliation be as determinative as pundits have believed it is? Lots of people in my state check "no party preference" on their voter registration forms these days.
People are both smarter and dumber than pundits think and they are not predictable. The sources of information are quite different now plus we're coming up on demographic changes in the electorate. The future will be interesting.

Latest AP results are in one particular race with 93% reporting: Fingers crossed this bubble-headed grifter gets the boot. Love this.

I'm chewing my nails a little as I wait for confirmation.
This would block the currently Republican controlled Pennsylvania legislature from engaging in what Josh Marshall so eloquently refers to as ratf***ery in the 2024 election.
