Caribou Barbie is out to slay 'em in New York ... literally. Is NYC slipping up on its "show your vaccine card before you enter" rule? I was in the city in October and no restaurant skipped over the show your card rule, even the tiny crowded bagel stores. She still has a young kid (or grandkid if you believe Andrew Sullivan), so one doesn't wish her death. But if she ended up with some Long Covid situations, I wouldn't shed many tears. In many ways, she was the ground zero patient in the brain eating virus that spread throughout the GOP. She was the John The Baptist that cleared the path for Trump. Perhaps Michelle Obama should have asked for her head on a silver platter.

I am trying to hang on to my humaneness and not give in to schadenfreude. I reserve mine for those who aren't actively trying to harm others.

I am trying to hang on to my humaneness and not give in to schadenfreude. Alas, this is getting increasingly difficult, given the frequency and temperature of the anti-vaxx confrontations.

Defiant Stupidity seems to be the real global pandemic. It's a virus that spreads digitally.

New vaccination and booster effectiveness stats are out. As TPM says, they're " eye-popping."
I really can't bring myself to care about the COVID outcomes for the unvaccinated (except for whose with a valid reason which is a slim minority) as long as responsible people aren't hurt by it. They made their choice.

Oh, that's just great. The MAGAts and anti-vax idiots aren't content to just f*** up our country.

Oh, that's just great. The MAGAts and anti-vax idiots aren't content to just f*** up our country. The truckers' freedom is apparently more important than the Ottawa residents' freedoms to move about their city, see monuments unsullied by human urine, and follow mask rules to prevent spread of Covid.

Looks like we have a "for real, run by medical people study" about COVID immunization and the duration of the antibodies. (Bold mine) The future of the pandemic is looking clearer as we learn more about infectionDuring the early days of the pandemic, scientists and doctors were concerned that being infected with SARS-CoV-2 might not trigger a strong immune response in many people – thus an infection might not provide long-term protection. "Immunity to Covid-19 could be lost in months, UK study suggests," a headline from The Guardian alerted back in July 2020. "King's College London team found steep drops in patients' antibody levels three months after infection," the story warned. But that idea was based on preliminary data from the laboratory — and on a faulty understanding of how the immune system works. Now about a year and a half later, better data is painting a more optimistic picture about immunity after a bout of COVID-19. In fact, a symptomatic infection triggers a remarkable immune response in the general population, likely offering protection against severe disease and death for a few years. And if you're vaccinated on top of it, your protection is likely even better, studies are consistently showing.www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2022/02/07/1057245449/the-future-of-the-pandemic-is-looking-clearer-as-we-learn-more-about-infection

I want to know how much of this is based on science and how much on politics. Are we going to overwhelm hospitals and cause the deaths of tens of thousands, again, because some loudmouths are butthurt over masks? Or is this actually a reasonable move? I guess we'll find out.

But counties in California have the power to impose mask requirements. This is a huge state and some counties have higher rates of infection than others. Though really, I believe that the Governor lifted the statewide mandate in response to politics as he did last June when he lifted the mandates. Infection rates were going down back then but it seemed to me that lack of a mask mandate signaled to some people that vaccinations were no longer necessary and so they didn't seek them out.

And some of these grifters ain’t too bright. How this in-DUH-vidual managed to get INTO medical school, let alone finish a degree, baffles me. Of course, despite revocation of her license in more than one state, she still holds a medical license in Flori-DUH:
