Moscow Mitch, being the much smarter politician and human being than Kevin McCarthy (low bar I know), is trying to changed the subject. I don't see him really popping up anyplace anymore. To be blunt I think he still has strong control over Senate Republicans but now has almost no power in guiding the party.

Josh Marshall discusses the bind that Republicans have put themselves in by pandering to the absolute worst of the worst in their party. Yes, of course that includes Trump. First he reviews McCarthy's spineless dodge about "legitimate political discourse" and points out the utter absurdity of his defensive lies but then he looks at the self-inflicted issues they're facing.
Trump and his MAGAts, who continue to be the primary drivers of the GOP's political rhetoric, don't just want absolution for the terrorists. They want the Republican Party to lionize the terrorists and provide their open support of future violence because, after all, in their fevered little minds it's justified.

Nikki Haley continues down the path of Little Lindsey Graham and Scraping Kevin McCarthy. It's pathetic to watch somebody who was once considered to be a solid conservative go full metal lickspittle. She has sacrificed her dignity on the altar of Trump and she'll never get it back. Her latest "defense" of Trump? Mike Pence is honest but Republicans should never attack Republicans. Thanks for admitting you place party of country, Nikki.
Charlie Sykes ate her alive. Also Marco Rubio and his "flop-sweat awkardness" and DeSatanist's dodge.
This was spot on (bold his):

And yet he still can't bring himself to take any stance other than on his knees and licking Trump's ... boots.

This is how fascism win, by grinding down the average, everyday person into apathy.

A movement is starting up to counter the batshit crazy and utterly stupid parents trying to turn public schools into madrassas. Yep. High quality schools and MAGAts definitely don't go together.

I am so happy to see this. Sane people need to stand up and to support their elected boards. Sane people need to develop a thick skin, suck it up, and point out the insanity when they see it.

The first blatant fascist appointment is sussed out in Virginia. There's a reason (actual several) that I call him Gov. Glenn Trumpin. Give the Republicans power and they'll bring the fascist crazy, every time.

The U.S continues to export its brand of fascism and not just to Canada.
I want to see political leaders calling out to the thousands (tens of thousands?) of people who are being put out of work, just as the Republicans did over a much small number of shop owners in BLM protest areas. Tell people who are nowhere near it who is to blame and how they and their political allies approve of picking the people's pockets to buy votes with somebody else's money. They are victimizing people. Don't hesitate to bring that out, just like the Republicans did.

I would not be surprised to find that Putin has his fingers in this, too.

Lawyers are human too. There is no psych test required before getting a license. From my short time practicing I can pick out lawyers who were ideologues or not quite sane. My husband has a far longer list. Smart, but there is a screw loose somewhere.

Follow up on the Shasta County CA recall of a county official. The man, Moty, was recalled. Why? They're mad as hell and the mere fact that someone points out that the county has no power over an issue is reason for that person to be thrown out of office. This is all boiling up in another rural county in Northern CA and is probably coming soon to a county near you.

This is all boiling up in another rural county in Northern CA and is probably coming soon to a county near you. Angry, ignorant, and completely convinced of their stupid beliefs. That's a toxic combo. The problem is, that's numerically the majority of counties across the US, since they usually represent a small fraction of overall population. Right now, everything in our political system is stacked for zealots and MTG-level cranks, because most people don't want the service obligations to run for office. If you're a hard working farmer or small business person, you're worried about your business survival. But if you're a crackpot retiree or grifter, you're more likely to win office, if you've been triggered by social media or RW media. Who knew that Murdoch and Zuck were happy to do Putin's work of social destruction.

Barr's corrupt pitbull, John Durham, continues abusing his position for partisan hackery. Note the lack of facts and lots of hand waving. This is after repeated attacks on Michael Sussman in a supposed like that a) has one witness with a story that has changed multiple times and b) in no way blocked anything to do with his "investigation."
This bullshit has now gone on for longer than Mueller's entire investigation. It's time for Merrick Garland to grow a f***ing pair and give him a timeline to produce something concrete or shut him down. It's Ken Starr all over again.

More performance outrage by Republicans because it's the entirety of what they've been reduced to.

Missouri's Republican governor found a politically advantageous target and falsely accused him of a crime for personal gain. We read this before but now it turns out they were initially going to do the right thing. These people are total trash.
Read on to see just how big a shitbag Mike Parson is as he quadruples down on his claim that a person who responsibly reported a security hole on the state's website should be treated as a criminal. Fascists will use any excuse they can if it allows them to persecute somebody they perceive as their enemy.
