A man accused of racially profiling a Black worker in a Tennessee parking garage with his white mom has been charged with assault after a video of the altercation went viral on social media, the Nashville Metro police said.

According to an arrest warrant filed Dec. 2, Edward Brennan took a swing at Johnny Martinez, who was checking cars for parking permits in the Nashville garage, after his mom called the police because Martinez refused to show them identification. “A reasonable person would regard the contact as extremely offensive or provocative,” causing Martinez to fear “imminent bodily injury, the warrant states.

Martinez told The Daily Beast that he was working in the River House apartment building’s parking garage on the evening of Nov. 27, when he saw the white mother and son monitoring him.

“As I was doing my rounds...I noticed people watching me,” he explained.

As he continued to work, Martinez said he tried to avoid the pair until the mother allegedly told him, “You don’t belong here. How did you get here?”

In a video originally posted on YouTube, Martinez can be seen filming the mother and son as they question him. Brennan tells Martinez that he will call the police, and the mother—identified as “Bitsy”—asks for Martinez’s identification. Brennan then walks toward a car off-camera while the mother continues pestering Martinez.

When the son comes back on camera, he strikes Martinez, knocking a bottle opener off his keychain. Martinez told The Daily Beast that when he went to pick it up, Brennan allegedly tried to attack him again.

“When he attacked me, he swung, he almost hit me in the face,” Martinez said. “He broke this bottle opener off of my keys. When I went to go pick it up, he lunged.”

A Christmas party left one family with an unwelcome guest after a neighbor deemed them too loud.

@sweet_shortyyy was recording gifts being opened in the midst of a cheerful gathering when the door swung open in the background. A woman marched right up to the family — inside their apartment — to make a noise complaint.

“Can I ask you guys to tone it down?” she asked, waving her arm around to command attention. “It’s about ten after eleven.”

There are ways to ask your neighbors to keep it down, and there are ways to ensure you never have a good relationship with them. Generally feeling entitled enough to walk right into someone’s home accomplishes the latter.

The woman closest to this Christmas Karen responded appropriately, telling her that she needed to leave immediately.

“This is not your apartment,” she said, moving the woman back towards the door she barged in through.

Complaining about noise during a family holiday party is already lame enough that folks on TikTok likely would have sided against this intrusive Karen, but having the audacity to walk into someone else’s home to make her demands really left no room for debate as to who was in the wrong here.

Ken, a.k.a. George, tried to loudly steamroll a young women his daughter rear-ended at a stop sign. The insistence on talking to some man in her life (husband, boyfriend, or dad) was a real misogynistic moment. I wonder if he's a Republican who believes in "personal responsibility."

A series of TikTok videos shows a man exhibiting maximum levels of audacity after his daughter rear-ended a woman at a stop sign—an incident that was caught on video clearly showing the young lady with the fancy car accelerating into the stopped vehicle in front of her by security cameras. Cases like these tend to be open-and-shut with the person who hit the car in front of them almost always being found at fault, but the offending driver’s dad had to show up and try to weasel his clearly annoyed daughter out of taking the blame.

As the young woman or girl stands there with her arms crossed in the nasty weather, her dad, named “George” judging by his jacket, attempts to gaslight the new TikTok user into letting them leave without providing her insurance information and even suggests that the woman filming could be at fault. The entire thing was caught on a series of four videos and posted to a burner account called @karenswilding1989.

As everyone knows, the first thing you do after a car accident once you’ve determined that no one needs immediate medical attention is to exchange insurance information. The TikTok user asked the young person who rear-ended her to hold up her insurance card so that she could simply take a photo of it, but George snatches the card out of his daughter’s hand and accuses the woman filming of trying to pull some kind of “scam.”

What kind of scam someone could pull off with the scant information provided on a typical car insurance card is a mystery, and things only got worse from there.

He tries to claim that the damage to the vehicles was minor, which you can never be sure of until a mechanic can check the internal workings of the car, but only points to his daughter’s car, as though that would be the concern of the person who was rear-ended. He then tries to scam his way out of (we’re guessing) having the car insurance bill he pays for his kid go up by convincing the victim to have “her guy” call him and if the two men decide there is indeed a problem, only then will he provide his daughter’s insurance information.

“I want you to have your guy call me, we’ll look at the damage, and then if it’s needed, I’ll give you the insurance if it’s some giant thing,” he says.

This is, of course, not at all how it works unless you’re trying to dodge insurance premium hikes, but in a sexist society, men will often take advantage of the social pressure for women never to say “no” or in any way be difficult to intimidate and trick her into letting herself get screwed over. This TikTok user, however, would have none of it.

“You’re a jacka– and I really feel sorry for every single woman, including your daughter, in your life, because you can’t seem to have any sort of understanding,” she says. “I feel sorry for every woman in your life because you’re an a–.”

In case you were skeptical of the sexism charge, the user also reports that George kept asking to speak with her “husband” or “boyfriend” or even her dad, as though women are incapable of understanding basic car accident procedure. This was either before or after he tried to claim that the damage on her back bumper couldn’t be from the accident that just happened or that rubber bumpers make cars impervious to damage from being rear-ended.

In the final video, George finally reveals where he had been trying to go all along.

“At this point, I’m wondering about your stop that you did, might be a little bit contributory,” he says.

I'm of two minds about this, mostly because I don't know just how much the neighbor complained before trying something else (the article says they didn't but...). My entire life I have found too many dog people who are incredibly ignorant about their animal's barking, shitting, chasing people, and leash laws. There's plenty of callousness or demand that somebody else "understand" that they don't have control of their animal.

For a species that communicates with each other constantly and is always looking for new and innovative ways just to express themselves, a lot of us sure seem to struggle with basic communication skills. Enter the latest viral TikTok video in which the user showed photos of piles of strange orange powder against her backyard fence that had appeared overnight. Dog mom “Shai” was alarmed, especially after her seven-month-old puppies ran over and started licking it up, and began to call around to figure out what it was.

Still worried about what the strange substance might do to her dogs, Storm, and Rogue, she asked her next-door neighbor if she knew anything about it. Apparently, this neighbor had been taking issue with the dogs barking at her and her dog and “peeing on the fence line” (which we thought was normal dog behavior) and decided to dump what looks like it could be $10 worth of chili powder onto Shai’s lawn.

“My neighbor says, ‘Yeah, that was me,’” says Shai. “Apparently that was all chili power, it looks like a s–t ton of it too. So I asked: ‘Why’d you do that, they’ve been eating it?’ and she said, ‘I didn’t know that they would eat it, I just saw it online and thought it would be a good idea since they’re always barking at us and harassing my dog and peeing on the fence line.’”

While chili powder can be a safe deterrent for dogs sensitive to the smell, Shai points out that what you’re supposed to do is dilute a small amount of chili powder with water and put that in a spray bottle, not dump your entire spice rack onto someone else’s property. Perhaps worse than the neighbor’s failure to do any research on how you’re supposed to use chili powder to keep dogs away from something is the fact that she never even told Shai she was having a problem with the new pups, who had recently been rescued from a dumpsite and were still in puppy training.

“My whole issue with the situation is like, I get you’re sleep-deprived from the barking that I didn’t know bothered you that much. If you just came over and talked to me about it, I could have been working on the issue for months. But instead of coming over and talking to me about it, like an adult, my dogs are probably going to shit their brains out tonight.”

BTW a quick web search shows multiple recommendations of chili powder as a safe dog deterrent.

LOL I practiced insurance defense law for a while...auto insurance.  That sort of statement is something I heard from insureds from time to time.  "She stopped without warning!" like brake lights aren't warning.  Dang women drivers!

My favorite "you dumb f***" story was when my dad was struck by a driver while he was sitting at a red light. He had a good body shop that was reasonable and while he got a police report he called the driver and told her he was willing to just let her pay the bill and not go through her insurance company. That would save her a rate raise. Her response was, "Well I talked to my lawyer and he doesn't think it's my fault." That conversation ended pretty quickly.

Another Ken who is also apparently a Florida Man. It's a double whammy! This is the kind of person who pulls this kind of stunt just to feel special and righteous. Now he feels like he's in jail ... because he is.

A Florida man was confronted by angry beachgoers earlier this week when he defied environmental rules and tried to watch a fireworks display by standing on top of eggs laid by an endangered sea turtle.

Local news station Fox 13 reports that 33-year-old Brandon Bowen knowingly walked into a cordoned off area on a local beach where a female sea turtle had made a nest.

When fellow beachgoers confronted the man for standing on the turtle eggs, he grew angry and started screaming profanities at them.

"I ain’t scared of you, I’m sitting by my [expletive] self!" he can be heard yelling in a video caught by a beachgoer.

After Bowen refused to move, someone eventually called the police and reported him for posing a danger to the sea turtle eggs.

Fox 13 reports that Bowen was subsequently arrested and charged with "harassing or molesting marine turtles or their eggs" and is being held on a $5,000 bond.

The meat was pink — no one disputes that.

The argument between a customer and the co-owners of a famous barbecue restaurant in Raleigh, N.C., this month arose over whether that pink coloring meant that the pulled pork was undercooked.

The co-owners insisted they’d cooked the pork shoulder plenty, barbecuing it “low and slow” in a smoker for 12 hours at about 250 degrees. The woman disagreed and, when she couldn’t convince the co-owners to cook it some more or give her a refund, sought redress elsewhere.

By calling 911.

“I had ordered some food from there, and the barbecue was pink,” she told the dispatcher, according to audio of the 911 call obtained by The Washington Post.

The dispatcher sent an officer to the restaurant to handle the matter.

In the weeks since Raleigh police worked the case of the pink meat, Clyde Cooper’s Barbeque has defended its pulled pork, even marketing itself as the home of the “infamous pink bbq” and creating “PinkBBQ” merchandise. Others agree that customers shouldn’t be frightened by pink-colored barbecue — what aficionados call the “smoke ring” — even if it can at times alarm the uninitiated.

Dana Hanson, a North Carolina State University associate professor and an expert in meat science, said myoglobin, a protein that supplies oxygen to the muscles of nearly all mammals, is at the root of what happened at Clyde Cooper’s. In non-barbecue cooking, heat “denatures” myoglobin in fresh meat, turning it from red to pink and then brown to hockey puck.

“That’s the whole premise of when you order a steak at varying degrees of doneness, from rare to medium-rare to well-done,” Hanson said. “That’s the myoglobin pigment going through this normal denaturation during cooking.”

But barbecuing can mess with meat’s straightforward transformation along that color scale, Hanson added. Barbecuers often smoke their meats, usually doing so by burning wood that contains thousands of chemicals. One of those, nitric oxide, binds to myoglobin in the presence of heat to lock in the red or pink color — no matter how long the meat cooks.

Once upon a time, that “smoke ring” was a “badge of honor” for barbecuers and a signal to savvy customers, Hanson said.

“It’s the visual cue to know that that product is true barbecue and has been exposed to smoke,” he added. “There was a time that that was a measure of quality.”

The 25-year-old niece of former New Jersey Gov. Christie (R) was pulled off a plane in New Orleans on Thanksgiving Day after she allegedly asked a family onboard that she perceived to be Latino if they were “smuggling cocaine,” law enforcement said.

Shannon Epstein then proceeded to allegedly bite, kick, and spit at sheriffs deputies who arrived to arrest her.

In the scuffle, she injured six deputies, biting one on the arm and breaking the skin, and kicking another in the groin, Rivarde said. They were treated there by paramedics. …

Seven deputies were needed to handcuff Epstein to a wheelchair, so that she could be moved to the airport security office, Rivarde said. She continued to shout vulgarities and try to bite deputies, he added.

This kindergarten teacher Karen seems to be in absolute terror while screaming for help. That is, until she notices a camera pointed towards her, and suddenly things carry on at a much lower volume.

Using the commonly taught tactic of yelling 'fire' instead of 'help' when in need of assistance from strangers, this Karen is screaming at the top of her lungs. The thing is, there is no danger whatsoever, and she is completely capable of walking away and minding her own business. The nature of the situation is unclear as well, as she seems to be in a confrontation of sorts with the woman next to her, but they are far from having a conventional argument.

Notice the laughing later and saying "Does that trigger you?" This thing shouldn't be allowed anywhere near children. Even if allowed I suspect she won't be able to walk into school with being mocked by kids going, "HEEEELLLLLP!!!"

What an asshole.

A Colorado white woman who specializes in Feng Shui interior decorating has gone viral for morphing into a full-blown Karen, spewing racist vitriol toward a Latino family while lounging poolside in a bikini.

According to the Daily Mail, Blair Featherman, who works as an art consultant and interior designer, railed against a Latino family at her apartment complex in the affluent Lakewood neighborhood for having a “fucking Mexican party in the pool.”

In a video posted to TikTok by @jadeserie on July 6, a blond-haired woman in a bikini stands under a cabana, yelling.

“You have a fucking Mexican party in a pool, trash,” she directs to the person filming.

As the woman walks toward a chair, she notices the person is recording her and tells them to stop.

“You can’t just record me,” she says, grabbing the person’s phone.

Later on, she’s filmed sitting on a beach chair, telling the group to “go back to Denver.”

“Get the fuck out of here!” someone in the group responds to her.

“I live here!” she says. “Nowhere where you came from, wherever you came from, you fucking lowclass slime!”

And seriously, could she have said anything much more Karenesque?

he then bashes someone’s attire before sitting back in her chair and screaming, “You don’t even know what Hermès is!” At another point, a male member of her group is seen apparently restraining her in her lounge chair.
