For the record these aren’t $2k bottles. I had one last fall. Smoother than the blend, slight nutty taste. Good bourbon to begin with. The single barrel makes it better.
When Karen gets back I’ll start one.

I had to do an errand near the Navy detachment. On a hunch I decided to go there. Imagine my happiness to find BOTH Eagle Rare and Buffalo Trace Bourbons in stock. I just purchased one bottle of each flavor.
If you're into Eagle Rare, note the price has skyrocketed to almost double. Its gone up to about $57 and this is in the Military store.

One of the fun things about visiting my cousin is the fact she lives about 500' from Connecticut's largest brewery: Two Roads Brewing. Of course this happened after I moved out of the area. (I used to live across the street from her.)
Two Roads Brewing has some spectacular beers for all tastes. They put out some special limited release beers. One I want to get my hands on is a stout aged in Absinthe barrels. Only comes out in the fall. Just to emphasize: NOT something to get hammered on.
Imagine my surprise Saturday when I saw they had started distilling. They now offer Vodka, and two gins: "regular" and Elderberry. I bought the vodka and the Elderberry Gin. Tried the Elderberry last night. Very good ! Interesting change from the Juniper berry gin we're familiar with.

Speaking of adult beverages:
Had to do an OGR (On the Ground Recon) yesterday July 5, for a Corvette trip in August. The main objective was getting NH state maps from the Visitor Info places. The close centers were closed. Could not find a standard state map anywhere. We eventually found some maps that fit the bill at a town's welcome center.
Part of any trip into New Hampshire is visiting the state liquor stores. Had the chance to stock up on "Basic" Rebel (Yell) Bourbon, a bottle of Vodka for mixing and a new (to me) Irish whiskey from Dublin by Roe & Co (pronounced ROCO).
Also checked out a BBQ place called Big Fatty's in White River Junction VT.
As they say: Its all good.

You can't visit Puerto Rico without stopping at the Bacardi' distillery, taking the tour and buying the "Ron Casa Bacardi' Special Reserve" available only at the distillery gift shop. There are several options available to include bottle your own, laser engraving and a few other goodies. Check the link below for more info. Thanks to the tour and the distillery bar, I found a new drink to enjoy: a Cuba Libre made with dark rum lime and Coca Cola. Interesting flavor. shop.bacardi.com/products/casa-bacardi-special-reserve

Doesn't sound appealing but then Bacardi and Coke was the first cocktail I ever got drunk and sick on. Maybe premium Bacardi is better.

The Cuba Libre (A celebratory drink made to celebrate the liberation of Cuba from Spain) is made with, dark rum, a lime wedge (not squeezed) and Coca Cola to the top of the ice filled glass. Here's the rum selection from Bacardi`. Note most are in the premium range. It was suggested, one rum drink be made with coconut water ice cubes. (Don't ask it was a quick mention) www.bacardi.com/us/en/our-rums/

Patty, Maxine and Laverne's song "Rum and Coca Cola" takes place in Trinidad. Factoid: some years ago, Coca Cola sued a company for advertising "Rum and Coke" but NOT using actual Coca Cola. Its taken me some years to realize there are various grades and nuances of all types of liquors. Some are only good for mixing, while others deserve a long leisurely session in an easy chair. Like most of us, we're only familiar with the clear Bacardi`. There's a whole world of flavors to explore and savor.
