Giant retailers like Walmart rob American consumers of choice. Everything that is broken in our economy started as a bad policy choice. The trickle-down policies of the ’80s and ’90s peddled by politicians of both parties have systematically driven down wages and wiped out small businesses from coast to coast while enriching a handful of CEOs, shareholders, and executives. The standard trickle-down refrain that antitrust regulations are anti-capitalist has it wrong: Capitalism is about offering consumers a variety of options and allowing them to decide.
