We've already seen the credit grab by Alabama GOP Gary Palmer for the Birmingham Bypass. I think we need a thread to highlight "two faced" GOP actions in light of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill they voted against. I'm waiting for Sen Rubio to take credit for something benefitting his constituents that is part of the "Socialist Spending Power Grab". GOP Rep Cheerfully Takes Credit For BIF After Voting Against ItPalmer isn’t the first Republican to take credit for Democrat-led legislation he or she had tried to shoot down: Last spring saw a parade of GOP lawmakers touting the new funding for their local communities provided by Biden’s sweeping COVID-19 relief package–the funding they had flatly voted against. talkingpointsmemo.com/news/gary-palmer-credit-bif-vote-against

If Rubio does, I have little doubt the photo op will be in SOUTH Flori-DUH, not among the pointy-headed libruls in Gainesville or Tallahassee.

Gosar also wants credit after being an obstruction. Bonus irony points for him calling anybody "low IQ" except perhaps himself and many of his Republican colleagues.

Well here's another on who voted against the Commie Socialist spending bill. Hinson Takes Credit for Infrastructure Funds She Labeled as ‘Socialist,’ Voted Against
US Rep. Ashley Hinson compared the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act to socialism, but that didn’t stop her from taking credit for funds from the legislation that she voted against. “It’s the biggest leap toward socialism this nation has ever seen—it takes the Marxist ideology that once only existed in textbooks and makes it law in the United States of America,” she said.In sharing a press release from her office about the project, Hinson tweeted “BREAKING: We secured $829 million in federal funding to upgrade locks & dams along the Upper Mississippi River.” (seems others are about to take credit) From The Hill: Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) and Sens. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) and Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) joined Hinson and Rep. Cheri Bustos (D-Ill.) in leading the letter. Each of the leaders also voted last year to pass the infrastructure bill, except for Hinson. However, there were others listed as co-signers to the letter who voted against the bill last year, including Sens. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), John Kennedy (R-La.) and Roger Marshall (R-Kan.) and Reps. Mike Bost (R-Ill.), James Comer (R-K.Y.), Rodney Davis (R-Ill.), Billy Long (R-Mo.), Tom Emmer (R-Minn.) and others. This is fascinating. I'd like to know more about the funding mechanism. Federal money is to be used but is the state required to match the federal funding in some small or large amount?

Here we go again. This time it's Josh Hawley bearing false witness. He is such a f***ing little weasel.
Somebody made up a handy dandy list of those who would rather people die to preserve obscene profits.
I heard on GMA this morning that 60% of people on insulin have been rationing their usage because of the cost. That's horrific. Republicans and Big Pharma think it's horrific too. That's a lot of lost profit when they aren't buying what they actually need!

Continuing the never ending saga of "taking credit where none is due them", we have: GOP congressman who voted twice against veterans health bill is now urging his constituents to enroll in its benefitsLast year, Rep. David Schweikert voted not once, but twice against a bill to provide health benefits to veterans who were exposed to toxic substances during their service. Now, the Arizona Republican is urging his constituents to sign up for the benefits created by that same legislation. "You don't want to miss out on this opportunity," wrote Schweikert in an e-newsletter sent to constituents on Monday, urging Arizona veterans to sign up by Wednesday, August 9 in order to receive an extra year's worth of benefits. So... why did he oppose the original bill ? (We've seen this before) Insider reached out to Schweikert's office for comment on why he did not support the bill, but did not receive a response. Wait, we have the "stock" answer from Sen Tuberville (R-AL) His spokesman told Insider at the time that though Tuberville believed the bill included wasteful spending, his state now deserved its "fair share" and that Tuberville was "proud to advocate for this funding to go to Alabama." www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/gop-congressman-who-voted-twice-against-veterans-health-bill-is-now-urging-his-constituents-to-enroll-in-its-benefits/ar-AA1f1kcv?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=585523420ce34910b6c25a67a0d6e37a&ei=22Bonus: A synopsis of GOP taking credit for stuff: www.washingtonpost.com/business/2023/07/09/gop-spending-infrastructure-ira-biden/

To be fair, wouldn't all of us do this if we held an elected office? I don't mean take credit for it, but encourage people to use it if they could. I sure would.

I'd just point out it was available. No one should expect any rational elected to say "despite my voting against it, this program is now available for your use". Part of an elected's job is constituent service after all and the other part is to get re-elected.

Ms Stefanik is a complete toady for Pres Trump. Her sycophancy is breathtaking. 'Serial liar': Stefanik roasted after taking credit for federal money she voted againstOthers on X/Twitter took issue with Stefanik boasting about her district receiving the funds she voted against. In addition to a community note (a public fact-checking feature on the platform) specifying that Stefanik "voted Nay along party lines with every other Republican" against the bill, she was also slammed by various journalists, public figures and commentators for her tweet. "So @repstefanik is flat-out lying, here—she voted *against* funding for this project," Food Network personality Ted Allen tweeted, tagging the New York Republican's official account. "The town of Massena can thank President Biden and the Democrats for improving their water service via the Inflation Reduction Act." www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/serial-liar-stefanik-roasted-after-taking-credit-for-federal-money-she-voted-against/ar-BB1jQuxL?ocid=msedgdhp&pc=HCTS&cvid=6c16df76203440c6b4fd898b67fa9161&ei=12

One more. 'Hypocrite': Jim Jordan accused of taking credit for results of Biden act he voted against“'New manufacturing plant to create 160 local jobs.' 'Sheetz to hire over 400 new employees in Ohio' 'Honda and LG Energy begin hiring for new plant.' Ultimately: Move your business to Ohio. Hire workers. See success," the congressman wrote on his social media. The comments are almost universally about a single topic: Joe Biden's legislative accomplishments. @artcandee wrote, "Thank Joe Biden for the money." @nicholasabrown_ said, "Because of President Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act – which Congressman Jim Jordan voted against." @attacktrade added, "Jim will take credit for the sun rising tomorrow too." White House Deputy Communications Director Herbie Ziskend also pointed out the alleged hypocrisy. "Thank you [Jordan] for spotlighting how the Inflation Reduction Act is driving job creation in Ohio!" he said on Saturday. Ziskend brought evidence, as well. He included screenshots of various news articles, including, "Toyota, LG Energy sign $3 billion battery supply deal in U.S. EV push," and "Honda and LG Energy Solution Announce Ohio as Home to Joint Venture EV Battery Plant." www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/hypocrite-jim-jordan-accused-of-taking-credit-for-results-of-biden-act-he-voted-against/ar-BB1kpK3T?ocid=msedgdhp&pc=HCTS&cvid=cefd314c490a4783a5481e52d10edb97&ei=55

Good ol' JD Vance... JD Vance claims his mother obtained health insurance under Trump. She used ObamacareIn an attempt to boost Donald Trump’s record on healthcare, JD Vance touted that his family members obtained private insurance for the first time under the former president’s administration. However he failed to mention a key fact - it was through the Affordable Care Act, better known as Obamacare.
“Members of my family actually got private health insurance at least for the first time, switched off Medicaid onto private insurance for the first time, under Donald Trump’s leadership,” Vance said at the vice presidential debate earlier this month. (Ready for a laugh ?) But the Republican vice presidential nominee did not mention that during his debate speech. Instead, he mischaracterized that Trump “worked in a bipartisan way” to save Obamacare when it was on the brink of repealing. www.msn.com/en-us/health/other/jd-vance-claims-his-mother-obtained-health-insurance-under-trump-she-used-obamacare/ar-AA1sopmB?ocid=msedgntp&pc=HCTS&cvid=eb7a0fa2ad9d4e5c9e05436ccb863f21&ei=43Side note: reding the article, I was struck by the fact JD and his mom had no qualms about using a GOVERNMENT funded health plan.

Selective memory and playing on the fact that many of his constituents don't realize that Obamacare didn't just expand Medicaid, it also allowed people to enter private insurance plans. Convenient for him, ain't it?

Here's another one !! Strange she mentions it just before the election... Once again, someone thinks their past statements won't be thrown back at them. GOP Lawmaker's Attempt To Claim Credit for Infrastructure Funding BackfiresCongresswoman Nancy Mace, the representative for South Carolina's 1st congressional district since 2021, posted on X, formerly Twitter, on October 22, a link to an article from the South Carolina Daily Gazette titled, "$195M federal grant will improve flow of SC port traffic, reduce gridlock." Mace wrote in her post, "We hate traffic just as much as you do. We helped secure $195 million—the largest grant in South Carolina's history from the U.S. Department of Transportation—to kick off the Long Point Road Interchange Project! #LowcountryFirst." However, it seems readers didn't agree that Mace was responsible for the funding. Underneath her post, a community note was added which reads, "Rep. Nancy Mace voted against the infrastructure act that supplied this funding," and redirects users to a previous post of Mace's, which includes a link to a statement as to why she voted against the partisan infrastructure package. Mace is currently running for re-election, and her opponent, Democrat Michael B. Moore, called out her statement on X writing, "Nobody likes traffic @repnancymace, and in the Lowcountry we also don't like people talking out of both sides of their mouth. Learn more about me, and why @nancymace shouldn't go back to Congress at michaelbmoore.com." www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/gop-lawmaker-s-attempt-to-claim-credit-for-infrastructure-funding-backfires/ar-AA1sVx8c?ocid=msedgntp&pc=HCTS&cvid=1172268b39ed4211999bb9ecd6f6a6a9&ei=21

I hope it's happening all over the country where the House and Senate members voted against the Infrastructure bill.
