Please excuse my venting.
I'm fully aware MLB Baseball and NFL Football are major private businesses. They are there for the stockholders and not the fans.
If you're a sports fan, you may have noticed NFL Thursday Night Football is being broadcast on Amazon Prime. Some baseball games are now being shown on Apple TV+. Both these channels cost extra to get on your TV. Apple TV is about $ 5 per month, Amazon prime is $14.99/Month PLUS $8.99/Month for video. Its not worth it to me to pay extra to watch a mid week game. We make an Amazon purchase about once every two months and opt for the free delivery. (I may add they're not the only game in town.)
I watched a Yankees game on Apple+. It was atrocious. Video and audio quality were poor. Play by play by a four person team was third rate. From what we're reading on FB, the Prime broadcast of the NFL game wasn't much better.

You are not alone. Dear Daughter has had an Amazon Prime subscription dating back to her college days; she was willing to share the video feed of last night’s game as a one-off. I could have done without the fawning over Bezos every 20 minutes, and I wasn’t especially taken with the announcing in general. I gave up on it shortly after halftime, but I just thought I was simply overtired.
No, it’s not our collective imagination—more and more live sports content is migrating to “premium” (read “cough up yet more dough”) services. How long will it be before Joe Sixpack won’t be able to afford, not actual tickets to a live event, but the video broadcast as well?? At the rate things are going, that tipping point may be reached in the next 2 decades.

Sounds like it's time to rewatch the opening of "Baseketball".

And the Grand Sellout by the NFL continues. Saturday evening’s Dolphins-Chiefs matchup will be available only through NBC’s Peacock streaming service. GRRR…
Chem PhD shared with me an interesting conspiracy theory on this. The premise is that Goodell wanted the KC game behind the paywall to get the Swifties to pony up for the Peacock service. Makes one go Hmmmmm…

Frankly, having the capability to watch an NBC show a day later is not a major selling point for me.

I won't watch it just as I don't watch Thursday night football where one needs Amazon Prime. I wonder if this money grubbing effort is hurting viewership.

If any of you saw the Green Bay Dallas "Game" Sunday PM, I think you'll agree it should have been the one on Peacock.
I'm no Dallas fan, but their level of play was horrible. As an FYI: I've been getting offers for "a half price" ($29.95) annual subscription to Peacock. Still not interested.
Fortunately, the LA/Detroit game made up for the early one. Supposed to have two games tonight: the postponed Buffalo/Pittsburg game and Eagles and Buccaneers. (The Buffalo game may wind up being postponed again because of the weather)

I'm no expert on football and really don't watch until the playoffs. I just hated the America's Team BS from way back. I loved the Bills-Steelers game simply because the fans threw up snowballs when they were happy with a play or a score by the Bills. I gotta admire the tenacity of the fans sitting out there in the cold.

Guess which game had the LOWEST viewership ? NFL Fans Feel Vindicated By Peacock's Wild Card Viewership NumbersThe Wild Card round produced some exciting playoff matchups around the NFL this past weekend. And with those matchups came some big-time viewership numbers. Some games did better than others, though. NBC's exclusive Peacock coverage of the Wild Card matchup between the Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs brought in the l owest viewership numbers of the weekend at 23 million, per Front Office Sports. (Attendance breakdown charts are in the article.) Fox's coverage of the Green Bay Packers' win over the Dallas Cowboys brought in a weekend-high 40 million viewers, millions more than the streaming exclusive on Peacock. www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/nfl-fans-feel-vindicated-by-peacock-s-wild-card-viewership-numbers/ar-AA1n97WX?ocid=msedgntp&pc=HCTS&cvid=44c10377944142bb8f07ff242cdd0bca&ei=13
