To make matters worse I was in the audience one time when my family was visiting Southern California and waited in line for a day of taping. In that era, being a nervous fruitcake when they producers came by to interview everyone was they key to being selected as a player. |

Speaking of "officially old"...I just had an experience with an obit that really shows how messed up my sense of age and time is. I just learned that my 8th grade American History teacher died two months ago. He was 99 years old. Now back when I was 12 I thought he was already old. Now I understand why he seemed to be so good at roller skating. He owned a rink and taught skating too. (Small town life)

Let’s hope it’s a coincidence!! I wasn’t as surprised as I was just bummed. He had had to cancel some tour dates earlier this year owing to being hospitalized for undisclosed reasons, and I wondered at the time just how serious it was. I’ve referenced his “Trying To Reason with Hurricane Season” when tropical systems have been in my vicinity. Welp, here's to hoping wherever he is, they have tasty cheeseburgers. I haven't been to St. Croix for several years, but there was a place right on the beach that served the best hamburgers ever. I wonder if they are still there? Swimming all morning in the ocean and then sitting down ravenously hungry for one of those burgers is the memory all of his songs bring up for me.

I feel like we should recognize the thousands of people who have died in the earthquake in Morocco and the thousands who died as a result of flooding and dam breakage in Libya in the last five days. Seems like the earth is angry at humans.

David McCallum of The Man from UNCLE and NCIS fame dies aged 90 The Man from Uncle was the greatest TV show ever --- at least that is what I thought when I was 6 years old. As a twelve year old, I thought it was great also. About a year ago I saw a rerun: the sets looked amateurish, the special effects not so special. They did have cool things like communicator pens. Plus the THRUSH ladies were pretty darn good looking. Side note: After the show started airing, the US Government and the UN were constant recipients of letters asking about the existence of UNCLE (United Network Command for Law Enforcement) |
