All it would take is Trump as president and almost any Trumpy Republican as GA's governor and they'll receive full pardons. Murder isn't remotely off the table for the fascists, especially of somebody clearly guilty of ... well, something I'm sure. I would hope that the potential publicity alone would deter a governor from pardoning these three. Someone as high profile as a governor would prefer for others to do his white supremacy work so that the governors hands would be clean.

Nazis at a Connecticut library. MAGAts screech that they don't recognize their country. All I can say is "Ditto!"
This could have gone under the right-wing terrorism thread as well. Banging on windows like that at a group of people quietly going about their business is clearly intended to terrorize them.

Attendance at a white supremacy convention is now not really outside the bounds for Republicans like Kevin McCarthy. Steve King is probably wishing he could have held on just a little longer.

I'm sure he gave her a firm talking to alright, while she twirled her hair around her fingers and stared at her cellphone watching the campaign donations roll in.

Turns out being a speaker at KKK-Kon is not just in bounds but it's also not an impediment for a House member to hold committee positions.

Sadly, this surprises me not at all, based on my observations as a teen in South Florida (and re-connecting with some of those teens as middle-aged adults in the social media age).

There is also marked sexism in many of these communities. I recall a piece in the Miami Herald in the *late nineteen-eighties* that described how women in their mid-twenties (so, roughly my age at the time), even if they held degrees and were capable of supporting themselves independently, were still expected to live in their father’s house under strict chaperoning until marriage. So, again, relatively little surprise at the other.

My brother-in-law, who is black, married a Puerto Rican girl. Apparently even attempting to date her set her parents off because, since he was black, he was going to knock her up and leave her. (They married in the 70s and are still married.)
And speaking of the attitudes of some in that community her parents literally put her out of her own home in her early teens to live with a series of sisters. She wasn't a problem child but apparently the thought of dealing with a teenage girl was "too much to handle." Her younger brother? Oh, yeah. He got to grow up in his own home. But boy did they have a lot to say about who she was allowed to date.

White supremacy continues to gain open acceptance in the Republican Party.
Got that? White supremacists are "other conservatives." Good to know.

This Senator said the quiet part out loud. Later he went with a lame-assed excuse though with Republicans regularly doubling down on all sorts of reprehensible statements that's actually a small step up.

Why should anyone's marriage be dependent on what state the couple lives in? Fundamental rights are homogeneous.

Allowing sate governments to dictate personal affairs of its citizens -- that's freedumb, baby! “States’ rights” and the 10th Amendment only become important to the GOP when a Democrat is President.

I think that for most people, the end does justify the means. In this case, and in the case of the Republican party writ large, the goal is the reassertion of white patriarchy. Every available tool will be employed to reach that end. They will sacrifice everything they need to: their religious ideals, their ethics, their morality, their basic human decency, any pretense of democracy or the rule of law, and any concept of consistency in thought or ideals are all discarded while they deploy smoke screens to cover it up.
Most republicans don't really believe the election was stolen but they do believe it was illegitimate. The election was stolen mantra is just another smoke screen. Donald Trump really does represent the America they believe in. His entire life is a study in the end justifying the means.

This bigot made a serious error. They should have said consorting with Native Americans was against their religion and the GOP including right-wing SCOTUS would have backed them to the hilt.

Most republicans don't really believe the election was stolen but they do believe it was illegitimate. What made it illegitimate in their eyes? Because, ultimately, they don't believe Democrats are a legitimate political faction. Therefore, it easily follows that any Democrat in office is illegitimate somehow. Why they believe that, I think, is way more complex than just racial (although that is part) but also involves their view of what is really 'American', their sense of entitlement, and their sense of identity.
ETA: In this sense they really don't view themselves as racist. They don't care what color the Democrats are because to them it is the whatever caricature of Democratic goals they have concocted for themselves as being the real enemy. That is what makes Democrats illegitimate, not their color.
