A reading of “The Communist Manifesto” at a nonprofit community library in Rhode Island was interrupted by a group of protesters carrying a flag with a swastika, banging on the windows and yelling profanities.

The protesters can be heard in a livestream of Monday's reading at the Red Ink Community Library. A video posted on Twitter shows the flag and the protesters, some of whom appear to be making Nazi salutes.

According to the police report, responding officers saw 15 to 20 people, “allegedly from a neo-Nazi group," standing outside and striking the windows with their hands. The crowd dispersed when police cars arrived with their emergency lights on. Police did not see any damage to the building and one officer remained on the scene until about 8:15 p.m.

This could have gone under the right-wing terrorism thread as well. Banging on windows like that at a group of people quietly going about their business is clearly intended to terrorize them.

Congress Passes Anti-Lynching Bill For First Time After Over 100 Years Of Trying

The Senate on Monday unanimously approved the Emmett Till Antilynching Act of 2022, which would make lynching a federal hate crime, and sent it over to President Joe Biden’s desk for his signature.

The bill, named after the Black teen who was brutally lynched by white men in Mississippi in 1955, could slap convicted offenders with a prison sentence of up to 30 years.

“After more than 200 failed attempts to outlaw lynching, Congress is finally succeeding in taking a long-overdue action by passing the Emmett Till Anti-Lynching Act,” Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said in a floor speech after the vote.

The House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed the measure on Feb. 28. Only three House lawmakers voted against it: Reps. Andrew Clyde (R-GA), Thomas Massie (R-KY) and Chip Roy (R-TX).

The only punishment for the two representatives, apparently, was a conversation with Kevin McCarthy.

In a press conference, McCarthy said he’d talked to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R), who last month attended the America First Political Action Conference, which is run by Nick Fuentes, a white nationalist. Fuentes has said of segregation, “It was better for them, it’s better for us, it’s better in general,” among other, similar comments.

And… that’s it. “I’ve talked to her!” McCarthy told an inquiring reporter.

McCarthy said he hadn’t spoken yet to the other member of his conference who addressed the event, Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ).

So, no repercussions for addressing white nationalist conference? “My conversations with my members are exactly that,” McCarthy said.

My brother-in-law, who is black, married a Puerto Rican girl. Apparently even attempting to date her set her parents off because, since he was black, he was going to knock her up and leave her. (They married in the 70s and are still married.)

And speaking of the attitudes of some in that community her parents literally put her out of her own home in her early teens to live with a series of sisters. She wasn't a problem child but apparently the thought of dealing with a teenage girl was "too much to handle." Her younger brother? Oh, yeah. He got to grow up in his own home. But boy did they have a lot to say about who she was allowed to date.

White supremacy continues to gain open acceptance in the Republican Party.

Idaho Lt. Governor Janice McGeachin (R), who spoke at the recent America First Political Action Conference (AFPAC), insisted several days after the conference that she didn’t know anything about Nick Fuentes, the prominent white nationalist who organized the event.

On Thursday, the GOP lieutenant governor threw that denial right out the window.

McGeachin, who’s running for Idaho governor, described in an interview with Valiant News, a far-right media outlet, how she got involved in AFPAC.

“I was invited to present a video of my commitment to Idaho First policies and my vision for the state of Idaho and for America to these thousands of young conservatives,” McGeachin told the interviewer, adding that she had been invited by Michelle Malkin, a conservative commentator who has well-established ties to white nationalists.

“And so yes, I did know who I was talking to, who had invited me to speak at that conference,” McGeachin said.

The lieutenant governor went on to defend Malkin against critics of her well-established ties to white nationalists, arguing that the commentator is of Filipina descent and has a Jewish husband.

McGeachin also made it clear that she didn’t have any regrets about speaking to the white nationalists, and would do so again if asked.

“I’m not going to back off from the opportunity to talk to other conservatives across the country about America First policies,” she said.

Got that? White supremacists are "other conservatives." Good to know.

As the nation’s historically Black colleges remain on edge after receiving dozens of bomb threats in recent weeks, federal law enforcement officials said they have identified six suspects who they believe are responsible for most of the racially motivated crimes.

More than a third of America’s 101 historically Black colleges and universities have been targeted by calls or emails threatening to set off bombs on their campuses since early January, with the vast majority arriving during the celebration of Black History Month in February. The threats are being investigated as hate crimes.

At a congressional hearing Thursday, federal law enforcement agencies said they are working aggressively to make arrests in the 59 cases, calling the case their “highest priority.” All six suspects are juveniles, according to the FBI.

Ryan Young, executive assistant director of the FBI intelligence branch, said investigators have identified “one person and a small group,” although some of the threats may have been copycat crimes.

Sen. Mike Braun (R-IN) on Tuesday said he believes the Supreme Court should have left the issue of interracial marriage up to states — before quickly issuing a statement claiming that he misunderstood the question.

During a conference call with Indiana reporters on Tuesday, Braun discussed how he would evaluate Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson as she undergoes confirmation hearings with the Senate Judiciary Committee. Braun said that he did not want a justice who is an “activist,” citing Roe v. Wade, the 1973 decision that found abortion to be a constitutionally protected right.

After Braun argued that the Supreme Court shouldn’t “homogenize” issues nationwide, a reporter on the call asked whether Braun would be okay with the Supreme Court leaving the issue of interracial marriage up to the states.

“Yes, I think that’s something ― if you’re not wanting the Supreme Court to weigh in on issues like that, you’re not going to be able to have your cake and eat it too. I think that’s hypocritical,” Braun said.

I think that for most people, the end does justify the means. In this case, and in the case of the Republican party writ large, the goal is the reassertion of white patriarchy. Every available tool will be employed to reach that end. They will sacrifice everything they need to: their religious ideals, their ethics, their morality, their basic human decency, any pretense of democracy or the rule of law, and any concept of consistency in thought or ideals are all discarded while they deploy smoke screens to cover it up.

Most republicans don't really believe the election was stolen but they do believe it was illegitimate. The election was stolen mantra is just another smoke screen. Donald Trump really does represent the America they believe in. His entire life is a study in the end justifying the means.

This bigot made a serious error. They should have said consorting with Native Americans was against their religion and the GOP including right-wing SCOTUS would have backed them to the hilt.

A South Dakota hotel that racially profiled Native American customers, specifically barring them from visiting the property, appears to have run off more business than it intended.

On Sunday, Connie Uhre, owner of the Grand Gateway Hotel in Rapid City, wrote in a since-deleted Facebook post, “Due to the killing that took place at the Grand Gateway Hotel on March 19, 2022…we will no longer allow any Native American on property,” according to a tweet shared Monday by Rapid City Mayor Steve Allender.

The Rapid City Journal reported Uhre added that she couldn’t tell “who is a bad Native or a good Native.”

The hotel-room shooting at Grand Gateway Saturday left a man with severe injuries, Rapid City Police said. Quincy Bear Robe, 19, was arrested on multiple charges, the Rapid City Journal reported.

Uhre, meanwhile, offered a special rate for non-Native travelers and ranchers. She also blamed the city’s mayor and police department for a so-called increase in crime.

Lakota elder Tim Giago, publisher of The Native Sun News in Rapid City, said that, ironically, many Natives stay at the Grand Gateway Hotel when they come to Rapid City.

“I saw [the post] and I thought, ‘That’s kind of a stupid thing to put out there in the internet.’ That place has had Native American customers for the last 50 years or however long it’s been there,” Giago told The Daily Beast. “It’s one of the places a lot of the Native Americans stay when they come up for the basketball tournaments or conventions.”

Because, ultimately, they don't believe Democrats are a legitimate political faction. Therefore, it easily follows that any Democrat in office is illegitimate somehow. Why they believe that, I think, is way more complex than just racial (although that is part) but also involves their view of what is really 'American', their sense of entitlement, and their sense of identity.

ETA: In this sense they really don't view themselves as racist. They don't care what color the Democrats are because to them it is the whatever caricature of Democratic goals they have concocted for themselves as being the real enemy. That is what makes Democrats illegitimate, not their color.

There is outrage at two schools in the Duluth area of Minnesota after Native American students associated with a nearby Reservation faced death threats from fellow students.

"The Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa is demanding a response from leaders of nearby school districts after a racist and threatening Snapchat conversation between two students was shared on social media late last week," the Star Tribune reports. "The exchange between a student from Esko High School and another from Cloquet High included a desire for the Cloquet school to be bombed so 'all natives die.' It continued with other derogatory remarks about Native American people."

The letter from the Reservation Business Committee was addressed to Cloquet Superintendent Michael Cary and Esko Superintendent Aaron Fisher.

"We are horrified and saddened by the ignorant and racist statements of students from schools where many of our Native youth attend," Fond du Lac Chairman Kevin Dupuis Sr. wrote. "Our students cannot receive an education they are entitled to under the law if they feel unsafe and unwelcome in their own schools.”

On Thursday, the Miami Herald reported that a Florida man has been sentenced to 27 months for a months-long series of racist threats against a North Carolina banker whose institution closed his business account for unauthorized activity.

"Jalon Torres, 43, of Boynton Beach, Florida, pleaded guilty in October 2021 to charges of cyberstalking and making interstate threats. On Tuesday, March 22, 2022, a judge in Charlotte, NC, sentenced Torres to 27 months in prison," reported Michael Gordon. "Torres then asked for the Charlotte bank employee’s last name, which the FBI says she refused to give. Torres found her anyway. Within days of the phone call, Torres unleashed an eight-month barrage of racist, pornographic and life-threatening phone calls, emails and texts toward the banker, her husband and children, and her extended family, the FBI says."

According to the report, in one voicemail from December 2020, Torres said, “We’re coming for you dumb ass n****r. We know where you live. We know your whole f**king family and you’re going to be dead. Just wait.”

The banker reportedly was forced to hire off-duty police officers to guard her home in Charlotte.
