It really makes you wonder, did this guy ever believe in actual Christianity?

Pitch perfect and dead on accurate.

Welcome to Republican Christianity. It's about as toxic a combo as it gets.

Some person was arguing about weapons and how that would be the solution. I answered "those that live by the sword shall die by the sword".
He said that was "Old Testament" and the New Testament was different.
I cited Matthew 26: The Betrayal of Jesus
…51 At this, one of Jesus’ companions drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear. 52 “Put your sword back in its place,” Jesus said to him. “For all who draw the sword will die by the sword."
Never got a response.

Maybe that verse isn't in their King Trump version of the Bible.

The Suckabeast, at it again.

The Suckabeast, at it again. Yeah she's banned the use of Latinx/Latinae from state agency literature and banned CRT in schools. I'm sure the people of Arkansas are relieved by all that. In the meantime I wonder what the maternal death rate is there. I know about half the counties in the state have no hospitals that offer maternity care.

They really do just hate that gay people being treated as equals. That's really the entire basis of Pride Month.

I wonder what would happen if they ever saw this:

I wonder what would happen if they ever saw this: Simple. It's impossible to have a "just state" that isn't run by "Christians" unless it's bowing to their every religious demand. God(tm) told them so.

And Rod Dreher still can't accept that it's religion itself that is driving away younger generations.

The Atlantic has a piece from 2014 called The Conservative Myth of a Social Safety Net Built on Charity. It's a longish read but lays out the right-wing lies about government programs vs. charity. In short the former have actually often worked at scale. The latter has never scaled sufficiently and collapsed when needed the most.

You can see the same attitude in the Italian American pages I go to. "My parents/grandparents/ancestors/etc" never used the government etc." What they don't realize is the extent of those church and ethnic societies towards helping the less fortunate group. We also don't hear much about orphanages these days, but there's enough stories out there of kids going there because they couldn't be fed or taken care of. It took the Great Depression to make people realize these volunteer groups couldn't do it all. As always, there's a tendency by some groups to harken back to the old days of purity and self sufficiency.

As always, there's a tendency by some groups to harken back to the old days of purity and self sufficiency. I always wonder why private charity is supposed to be some sort of panacea for society's ills. Why leave vulnerable people to the tender and not so tender mercies of a philanthropic group? Did the Italian based charities help Southern Baptists of the dark color? Some groups are all in on saving babies from abortion but then it turns out that Muslim babies...eh not so much...adoption of babies by a Jewish couple...eh not so much. This is no way to build a society that is the size and diversity of the American one. Having support left up to the whims and fads of philanthropists is simply not sustainable over the long run.

If Trump will give them what they want...public tax dollars to support their theocratic schools they will forgive him anything. God picks imperfect vessels to do great things...I think that's also true of the clergy God picks?

If actual American Christians don't like their religion being looked down upon as a disease then they had better start standing up and defending it, not against those of us outside of it doing the criticism but against those inside providing endless actions and rhetoric that make all of the criticisms valid. [ video is of Alex Jones screeching about God(tm) and riling up the false Christians]

Another Christianist stooge who feels its their duty to disrespect other people's religious beliefs while jamming their own down everybody's throats.

Why does Jim Banks hate American democracy, the Constitution, and religious freedom?
From the first link apparently Mr. Banks believes the government should make his religion ascendant above others. Majority rule, a cornerstone of the Republican Constitution ... except when they aren't the majority, of course. As for "historic" it was historically hung in a f***ing chapel, not a primary meeting room. Bold mine.

Yes, they have weaponize Christianity. Where the f*** are all of non-crazy Christian leaders calling this out? There are a few but the overwhelming majority seem to be silent over bearing false witness and flat out blasphemy.
