I also saw the Designated Hitter is coming to the NL. I'm not a fan of designated hitters or designated runners or switching pitchers a bazillion times based on analytics of right handed or left handed hitters and pitchers. I prefer a team sport, not an individual player sport that happens to be organized into a team. That said having a DL opens up better career opportunities for a hometown player who has a killer bat and hams for hands when it comes to fielding. So I guess he'll be able to command some decent money (decent in baseball terms) and stick with high profile teams. |

Got to watch the Yankees vs That Local Team via YES network. Watched Aaron Judge hit # 56 and # 57. Winning runs came from a base clearing double in the 9th.
Not ones to disappoint their fans they manage to load the bases in the 9th. The gods prevailed. Yankees win 7-6.

Not ones to disappoint their fans they manage to load the bases in the 9th. The gods prevailed. Yankees win 7-6. My husband grew up in Mass. during his sports formative years. He is a die hard Red Sox fan and has been since age 9. Our nephews grew up in CT and are Yankees fans so my husband maintains an ongoing text conversation during such games...ranking on each other. He was out of town last night, but I could hear his howl of distress last night without the aid of a phone. But he admits Judge is awesome. |

I can't blame anyone who roots for their home team, I grew up in CT when Maris, Mantle and the Yankees were dominating. If the situation was reversed, I'm sure he'd be a Yankees fan. In my situation, because she grew up in the Philly area, Mrs Andydp is a Philadelphia sports team fan. I get a lot of bunk about Yankees, Giants, Knicks. The only saving grace is we both root for Seton Hall in college basketball. Lately, Yankees fans have been watching them throw the game in the last half inning. The current "slide" is very aggravating. But we hope for the best. I'm sure Hubby will be home for the next iteration of Bos-NYY so you can enjoy the angst live. |

I know YANKEES fans aren’t always liked but this was a game for the ages.
Ninth inning:
Yanks losing 8-4
Judge hits #60 a solo HR. Yankees now losing 8-5.
Bases get loaded, Gian Carlo Stanton hits a walk off grand slam to win the game 9-8.
What a freaking game !

Last night Yankees beat Pittsburg 14-2. No homer by Judge, still at 60.
Tonight: Yankees start home stand vs Red Sox. Game televised on FOX TV starting 1915 Eastern.
Judge could tie Roger Maris' 61 with one homer. Judge has hit multiple HRs in nine games this season.
The Maris family has been at all the games so far.

I was watching pitcher went off on home plate ump for what he thought should have been a strike (looked a bit low). Ump threw him out, manager comes out about 10 seconds and he’s out too. Bottom line: Judge holding 60, Yankees win. Thanks to the good “graces” of Apple+ everyone got to watch the game. The quality of the broadcast and play by play is vastly improved from last month. |

He prefers his MLB app where he can chose the radio station announcers of the teams. He of course wants the Boston guys. But the Apple team was pretty good and we always wondered where Hunter Pence (former Giant) ended up...in broadcast crew at Apple...wearing an ugly colored sports jacket. Also noted Albert Pujols joined The 700 club last night. My son has a baseball that Pujols threw to him from the on deck circle during a Cardinals Giants game in San Francisco many years ago. Son was the only kid wearing a Cardinals hat in the lowest stand near the circle; everyone else wore Giants. |

After losing to Toronto Mon Night, Yankees won last night and clinched AL East. Judge is still stuck at 60. He's been walked almost 20 times. Even the home team fans are booing the walks.
Game tonight then a day off.

Yankees beat Toronto 8-2 tonight. Judge hits #61. Glad I was able to watch.
Next game Friday vs Orioles on ESPN+. Hope they let the “peons” watch.

First they price the peons out of the stadiums...between ticket prices, parking fees, and concessions. Now you can't watch on tv and sorry, but listening to games on radio just isn't the same. |
