Capitol Police said they are planning for “extra security” ahead of the State of the Union on March 1 in light of potential protests by anti-vax trucker protests that began in Canada and may spread to the U.S.

In a statement on Friday, the Capitol Police (USCP) said that law enforcement agencies are “aware of plans for a series of truck convoys” arriving in Washington, D.C. around the time of the joint session of Congress for President Biden’s State of the Union (SOTU) address on March 1.

“As with any demonstration, the USCP will facilitate lawful First Amendment activity,” USCP said. “The USCP is closely coordinating with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, including DC’s Metropolitan Police Department, the United States Park Police, the United States Secret Service and other allied agencies to include the DC National Guard.”

The USCP added that it is working with the Secret Service to plan for the upcoming SOTU.

“The temporary inner-perimeter fence is part of those ongoing discussions and remains an option, however at this time no decision has been made,” USCP said.

On Saturday morning, the USCP warned of new security measures in plan “due to the Truckers Convoy,” according to a memo sent to congressional members and staff obtained by The Uprising.

Three men yesterday pleaded guilty to conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists for their roles in a white supremacist plot to attack US power grids.

"These three defendants admitted to engaging in a disturbing plot, in furtherance of white supremacist ideology, to attack energy facilities in order to damage the economy and stoke division in our country," Assistant Attorney General for National Security Matthew Olsen said in a Department of Justice announcement.

The defendants are Christopher Brenner Cook, 20, of Columbus, Ohio; Jonathan Allen Frost, 24, of West Lafayette, Indiana, and of Katy, Texas; and Jackson Matthew Sawall, 22, of Oshkosh, Wisconsin. They were charged in US District Court for the Southern District of Ohio and face maximum prison sentences of 15 years. The plea agreements recommend post-prison supervised release of 30 years with computer monitoring and a ban on the use of "online encrypted communication platforms."

"As part of the conspiracy, each defendant was assigned a substation in a different region of the United States," the Justice Department said. "The plan was to attack the substations, or power grids, with powerful rifles. The defendants believed their plan would cost the government millions of dollars and cause unrest for Americans in the region."

A statement of facts the defendants admitted to in their plea agreements described their hope to ignite a "race war":

In addition, the defendants believed that time associated with replacing the substations would cause confusion and unrest for Americans in the region. There were also conversations about how the possibility of the power being out for many months could cause some serious change or straight out war, even a race war; additionally, that without power across the country, it could cause the next Great Depression, people wouldn't show up to work, the economy could crash and there would be a ripe opportunity for potential (white) leaders to rise up. One theme of the group discussions centered around the need to create disorder to bring the system down, which would cause people to doubt the system and create a true revolutionary force against the system.

Planning for the attacks happened between October 2019 and March 2020, according to the statement of facts. Frost and Cook met in an online chat group in which Frost "shared the idea of attacking a power grid, a perceived vulnerable target," and "provided Cook with information that he had gathered about possible power grids as targets," the document said. The defendants planned to use "powerful rifles that would penetrate the transformers."

One of the Oath Keeper traitors just plead guilty and promised cooperation.

Joshua James, one of the 11 Oath Keepers militia affiliates indicted earlier this year on a charge of seditious conspiracy alongside the group’s founder, Stewart Rhodes, on Wednesday became the first person to plead guilty to the sedition-related charge in connection with the storming of the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

Under a plea deal revealed at a hearing on Wednesday evening, James has agreed to cooperate with prosecutors, who appear to view him as an important witness against Rhodes.

During the hearing before U.S. District Court Judge Amit Mehta, James confirmed that he and Rhodes had agreed to use any means necessary — including deadly force — to interfere with the transfer of power from President Donald Trump to then-President-elect Joe Biden.

One particularly alarming statement at the hearing came as Mehta read from a statement of facts in the case saying James and Rhodes vowed “to use lethal force against anyone who tried to remove President Trump from the White House.” James concurred that he had reached such an agreement.

A major security scare sent Joint Base Andrews into lockdown late Sunday. Just as Vice President Kamala Harris and four Cabinet members were touching down at the Maryland military base, two suspects, at least one of whom was armed, got through a security checkpoint. In a statement, the base said the pair “failed to adhere to commands of security personnel” at the main gate, and both fled when their vehicle was stopped by barriers. Only one of them had been caught and that individual was found to be armed, but no shots were fired, according to the statement. Later Monday, the Air Force Times reported that the apprehended suspect is 17 years old, and the second suspect is still at large but a search determined they were not on the base. The New York Times reports that Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, left the base on Marine Two after the incident.

Enrique Tarrio, a leader of the right-wing street gang the Proud Boys, has been indicted by a federal grand jury on Jan. 6-related conspiracy charges.

The Washington Post was the first to report the charges. The indictment alleged that in December 2020, Tarrio and others in the Proud Boys created what the group referred to as a “Ministry of Self Defense,” and that this group took part in the Capitol attack. Tarrio himself was not near the Capitol on Jan. 6.

The indictment charges Tarrio with conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding; obstruction of an official proceeding and aiding and abetting; civil disorder and aiding and abetting; destruction of government property and aiding and abetting; and assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers.

“On Jan. 6, the defendants directed, mobilized, and led members of the crowd onto the Capitol grounds and into the Capitol, leading to dismantling of metal barricades, destruction of property, and assaults on law enforcement,” a DOJ press release stated.

As the government’s prosecutions of members of the Oath Keepers — by most measures, the most significant of any to come out of the Jan. 6 insurrection — move toward trial, defense lawyers face a daunting task: overcoming more than 2 terabytes of evidence arrayed against their clients, including countless hours of video footage from within the Capitol itself.

Some of those lawyers, it appears, are getting outside help.

A nonprofit founded by Sidney Powell — the former attorney for president Donald Trump who has repeatedly attempted to reverse the results of the 2020 election — has been covering the full legal expenses of at least one and potentially multiple defendants in the high-profile case, BuzzFeed News has learned.

Since October, the organization, Defending the Republic, has been making monthly payments to the defense attorney for Kelly Meggs, a member of the militant group the Oath Keepers who is charged with seditious conspiracy for his role in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. In an interview, the attorney, Jonathon Moseley, said he was aware of “at least three or four other defendants who have that arrangement” as well. The Oath Keepers’ general counsel, Kellye SoRelle, said that one of those others is the group’s founder, Stewart Rhodes. Offered the chance to deny that, his lawyers said they don’t discuss funding.

The revelation, which has not been previously reported, sheds new light on the activities of Powell’s organization, which was incorporated in December 2020 “to defend the constitutional rights of all Americans.” By last August, the group had raised nearly $15 million, according to its audited financial statements, and since then has raked in untold cash in donations and sales of merchandise, including T-shirts, drink coasters, and highball glasses adorned with the organization’s logo. Yet despite mounting legal scrutiny from federal and state investigators, Defending the Republic has disclosed almost nothing about where that money has been going.

Flower shop owner-turned-insurrectionist Jenny Cudd, who’s pleaded guilty to breaking into the Capitol on Jan. 6, didn’t seem especially sorry about trying to overthrow the government, prosecutors wrote in a sentencing memo on Wednesday.

The memo, which recommended a 75-day prison sentence and $500 in restitution for Cudd, described comments the Trump supporter allegedly made after the insurrection, arguing that Cudd “lacks remorse” for her actions and would do it all again if she could.

Prosecutors cited a Facebook livestream they said Cudd posted on Jan. 6 shortly after the attack in which she allegedly bragged about pushing against law enforcement officers at the Capitol and declared, “I’m proud of everything that I was a part of today. And I’ll be proud of everything that I’m a part of at the next one.”

In fact, Cudd was pretty adamant about making sure people who were watching her stream really grasped how extremely proud she was, according to the court filing.

“Fuck yes I’m proud of my actions. I fucking charged the Capitol with patriots today. Hell yes I’m proud of my actions,” she allegedly said in the video.

Cudd’s lawyer has argued that the defendant was drunk when she posted the livestream.

But then several days later on Jan. 8, Cudd allegedly told a local news outlet that she “would do it again in a heartbeat,” prosecutors noted.

“I went inside the Capitol completely legally, and I did not do anything to hurt anybody or destroy any property. So, yes, I would absolutely do it again,” she allegedly said.

Another terrorist, though not from the Jan 6 insurrection for once, appears to have violated his terms of bail. They just can't help themselves.

Philadelphia prosecutors have filed a motion seeking to revoke the bail of Joshua Macias, a right-wing activist who has embraced the lie that the 2020 election was stolen from Donald Trump, after The Daily Beast reported that he appeared to be violating bail conditions.

A spokesperson from the DA’s office confirmed that The Daily Beast’s reporting informed their decision to seek to revoke bail in a case that began with Macias’ ill-fated trip to the Philadelphia Convention Center on Nov. 5, 2020. He faces election interference and gun charges in connection with that trip.

Prosecutors say Macias was arrested by Philadelphia Police while carrying a .40 caliber handgun along with Anthony Lamotta, a fellow member of Vets 4 Trump, who had been carrying a 9mm handgun openly on his hip. Following their arrest, police searched their vehicle—a Hummer H2 the pair drove from Virginia—and found an AR-15 style rifle and ammunition. At least one of the men had a permit to carry, but the permit was not valid in Pennsylvania.

The Philadelphia DA’s office alleges that the two intended to interfere with the vote canvass being conducted by the Philadelphia Board of Elections just as Joe Biden was set to claim the state and win the Electoral College. Macias was released on bail on Dec. 5, 2020, but a month later, spoke at the “Freedom Rally” in the park next to the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, D.C, on Jan. 6, 2021.

According to the filing, Macias and his co-defendant Lamotta “were involved in the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.” There is no evidence either of them entered the Capitol building.

Later that month, prosecutors filed a motion to revoke Macias’ based on his recent conduct. Macias’ bail conditions were increased, including restrictions on posting on social media or attending rallies, but he was not denied bail at the time.

The DA’s office latest filing cites a number of instances of Macias allegedly breaking those updated bail conditions, including a March 8, 2022 livestream video of the “trucker protest” outside of Washington, D.C., that was “seemingly recorded and narrated by Macias.”

“Indeed, Macias’ distinctive voice can be heard throughout, and he self-identifies as “J.M.” roughly six minutes into the video. Thus, not only is Macias posting to social media, but he is posting video of himself attending a rally—both prohibited by his bail conditions—and his thinly veiled effort to conceal himself in the video as “JM” is evidence of his awareness that he is violating the conditions of bail,” the filing reads.

Macias’ pattern of apparent resistance to his bail conditions was first uncovered by Kristofer Goldsmith, an Innovation Lab Senior Fellow at advocacy group Human Rights First, who has been tracking his increasingly radicalized behavior for several years.

As The Daily Beast first reported, citing Goldsmiths research, Macias was repeatedly active on social media in recent weeks.

On the evening of March 15, Justin Peoples pulled into a Chevron gas station in Tracy, California, a town about sixty miles east of San Francisco.

The 30-year-old father-of-two was a Navy veteran who lived in nearby Stockton; he was described by his father, Maurice Peoples, as a “remarkable young man.” But inside the gas station, just after 9 p.m., Peoples was shot and stabbed. As reported by the Tracy Press, he was rushed to a hospital where he died hours later.

In the early stages of the investigation, Tracy police determined that Peoples did nothing to provoke the attack that left him dead, and described it as a “senseless act of violence.” The morning after the killing, police arrested Christina Garner, 42, of Manteca, and Jeremy Jones, 49, of Stockton. Then last Friday, investigators alleged a motive: alongside a murder charge, the white couple was charged with a hate crime for killing the young Black father.

Garner’s and Jones’ social media accounts show they have an affinity for tattoos. Just days before their arrest, Jones debuted a new ink collar that reached from his collarbone up his throat. “I wanted to show my girlfriend that I loved her,” he says as he turns his head, revealing the massive letters that spell “CHRISTINA” across his neck.

But it’s precisely because of the couple’s ink that investigators say they were able to gather enough evidence that the alleged murder was a hate crime. Alongside his display of love for his girlfriend, Jones is also covered in white supremacist images, prosecutors said.

In a statement released two days after the couple’s arrest, San Joaquin County District Attorney Tori Verber Salazar released mugshots as well as photos of Jones’ other tattoos. “WHITE” and “PRIDE” span the length of his arms and the outline of a skeleton can be seen hovering over a swastika. Salazar also said that after investigating Jones, they discovered he had shown support in the past for white supremacist entities like Skinheads, the Aryan Brotherhood, and Nazis.

A right-wing terrorist who was involved in the Jan 6 Republican Insurrection has fled the deep state here in America and has found the loving embrace of Mother Russia Belarus.

48-year-old Evan Neumann of California, aka the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrectionist who fled to Belarus last year to escape the FBI, has been granted asylum in the eastern European country, according to Belarusian state-owned news agency BELTA.

Neumann “received refugee status in Belarus,” BELTA reported on Tuesday, per Russian news agency Interfax. “The document was handed to him today at the Department of Citizenship and Migration of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Brest Regional Executive Committee.”

Everything’s gone swimmingly, according to Neumann, who ran away from the U.S. in February last year.

“I feel safe in Belarus. I’m calm, I like it in the country,” the refugee reportedly said, per BELTA. “Today I have mixed feelings. I’m glad because Belarus took care of me. I’m upset because I found myself in such a situation that problems arose in my native country.”

Some of those “problems” are the 14 criminal counts Neumann’s been indicted on, which include assaulting police officers and engaging in violence with a deadly or dangerous weapon, after he and the rest of the pro-Trump mob ransacked the Capitol on Jan. 6 last year.

Neumann is now on the FBI’s “Most Wanted” list.

According to CBS News, one of the co-conspirators in the far-right militia plot to kidnap and assassinate Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI) testified, as part of his guilty plea, that the plan was meant, in part, to disrupt the 2020 presidential election and prevent Joe Biden from winning.

"Ty Garbin described a scheme to get the Democratic governor during his testimony Wednesday against four former allies who are charged with conspiracy. He told jurors that they wanted to attack before the election to prevent Joe Biden from winning the presidency," said the report. "'We wanted to cause as much a disruption as possible to prevent Joe Biden from getting into office. It didn't have to be,' Garbin said of a pre-election blitz. 'It was just preferred.'"

A California judge didn’t buy a San Diego man’s argument that his violent online tirades against people of color are protected under the First Amendment.

And now, Timothy Caruthers won’t be eligible to purchase or own a handgun for at least two years, San Diego County Superior Court Judge Richard Whitney ruled last week.

“The Court concludes the purchase of a semi-automatic handgun, combined with the evidence of very egregious racial threats, advocacy of violence towards minority groups, vulgar speech, speech that promotes killing other minority groups are not considered constitutionally protected speech under the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution,” the court’s order read.

Under the social media handle the “Liberal Terminator,” Caruthers made threats against Black people, Latinos, Muslims, Jewish people, the LGBTQ community, and women, prosecutors said.

“Essentially, anyone who is non-white, except for liberals,” Deputy City Attorney Joshua Kay said, according to CBS8 San Diego.

Kay added that Caruthers expressed his desire to kill Black people and idolized white nationalist Dylann Roof—who murdered nine people in a 2015 Charleston church shooting.

In one post, Caruthers allegedly said, “All n—--s need to die. I don’t know how much longer I can contain my anger. I want a race war to start, so I can kill Black people. …I’m not even joking.”

According to court minutes, in another post, Caruthers wrote, “I want to kill anything n—--s. I want to torture them and beat them to death and watch them gurgle and spit on their own blood. …You gotta always keep your strap ready when in a 10 mile radius of a n—-r.”

A federal judge sentenced Lonnie Coffman, who walked into the U.S. Capitol last Jan. 6 as 11 Molotov cocktails sat in his pickup truck, to 46 months in prison on Friday. “He had an armory in his truck. This must be deterred,” Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly said during Coffman’s sentencing. “Forty-six months have been suggested—I decided that separately. That is the correct way to do this.” Coffman, 72, pleaded guilty in November to possession of an unregistered firearm and carrying a pistol without a license after he was arrested just after the Capitol riot. He also carried a list of “good guys” and “bad guys,” the latter of which included judges and a Muslim member of the House of Representatives. Coffman tried to plead with the judge on Friday for parole, arguing he was recently incapacitated with COVID and wanted to enjoy a “short vacation” while he still had the capacity to do so. He also said he was in love with his ex-wife.
