W...T...F? We read that there were likely domestic terrorists in the ranks of the Capitol Hill Police who aided the Jan 6 Republican Insurrection but this sounds like somebody in the position of command. We need to know who it is and at the very least fire them but preferably prosecute them.

A Capitol Police officer instructed “all outside units” on the morning of the joint session of Congress ratifying Joe Biden’s electoral victory to solely zero in on anti-Trump demonstrators “who want to start a fight” rather than any “pro-Trump in the crowd.”

Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) described the details of these internal investigation into the deadly Capitol insurrection during a House Administration Committee hearing this week.

An unnamed Capitol Police spokesman defended the alleged instructions to CNN after the hearing Wednesday, saying the radio dispatch that Lofgren referenced occurred around 8 a.m., hours before the breaching of the Capitol. According to CNN, the spokesman said that the communication was intended to instruct officers to also look for clashes between pro-Trump protesters and counterprotesters. The official who issued the comment is not under investigation, the spokesman told CNN.

While questioning Capitol Police Inspector General Michael Bolton about the security failures ahead of the attack, Lofgren pressed Bolton on the findings by the Department Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR). Lofgren quoted the department’s internal investigation that reviewed information from a radio transmission directing “all outside units’ attention” to not look for “any pro-Trump in the crowd,” before adding they were “only looking for any anti-Trump.” Lofgren did not identify the officer.

The audio of the broadcast has not yet been publicly released by the Capitol Police or Congress.

We've had DHS warnings about right-wing paramilitary groups, who were clearly there in abundance, but anti-Trump protesters were the real danger? That's inexcusable. Indicted MAGA rioter Rachel Powell has formally apologized to the United States District Court for the District of Columbia after making a mockery of its face mask order.

A filing made by Powell's attorneys on Monday claimed that the pro-Trump rioter "wishes to apologize to this Honorable Court, and to Pre-Trial Services, for her poor choice and her unwise conduct" when it came to following the court's mask mandate.

As a condition of Powell's pretrial release, Chief Judge Beryl Howell ordered her to wear a mask at all times when leaving her home.

However, earlier this month she was caught on camera in a bookstore wearing a hole-ridden "mesh" mask that public health experts agree would do nothing to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Powell's attorneys argued that it wasn't their client's intention to mock the court's order and was instead following the example of singer Lana Del Rey, who wore a similarly porous mask during a public book signing event.

"While clearly unwise, the creation and use of the mask at issue was not designed to mock the Court or its release condition," the attorneys write.

U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth last week slammed Powell for defying the court's order and he wrote that "no reasonable person could think that defendant's 'mask' complied with that condition... imposed to ensure that defendant 'would not pose a risk to the health and safety of the community when she left her house.'"

A federal judge ruled that a New Jersey gym owner should remain jailed on charges related to the Jan. 6 insurrection due to his habit of punching people in the face.

Senior U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth ruled Friday that Scott Fairlamb should not be released, saying he agreed with prosecutors that the gym owner and Donald Trump supporter showed no remorse for storming the Capitol and had a history of criminal violence.

"In other words," Lamberth ruled, "the defendant's history of punching people in the face suggests he may punch people in the face again."

The 44-year-old Fairlamb was indicted last month on 12 charges, including assaulting a federal officer, entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds with a deadly weapon, and acts of physical violence on the Capitol grounds.

Multiple tipsters alerted the FBI after spotting Fairlamb in videos from the insurrection, which showed the gym owner carrying a collapsible baton he picked up during the riot.

"What (do) patriots do?" Fairlamb said during the riot, according to prosecutors. "We f*cking disarm them and then we storm the f*cking Capitol."

Jennifer Ruth Parks, arrested by the FBI Friday in connection with the January 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, was apprehended in an unusual way: Someone tipped off the feds with a screen shot of a text in which her daughter was beaming about her mother's attendance at the protest.

Parks, of Kansas, and her friend Edith Schwemmer, both attended the Trump rally and then entered the Capitol after the doors were broken, according to the FBI complaint citing voluntary January 17 interviews with the two. The report also said the bureau received this tip six days earlier:

"The tipster shared a text message screen shot between Parks' daughter and an unknown individual where Parks' daughter wrote: 'So depressed over all of the cheating in the election right now. Mom and her friend went to Washington for the March. Wish I could have gone too. Lol.' Parks' daughter further wrote: 'We should all be climbing over those walls. They pushed us too far.'"

Facebook quietly looked at its own role in aiding the Jan 6 Republican Insurrection. The internal report was leaked.

An internal Facebook report on the social media company's role in enabling the January 6th insurrection has been posted in full online.

"Last Thursday, BuzzFeed News revealed that an internal Facebook report concluded that the company had failed to prevent the "Stop the Steal" movement from using its platform to subvert the election, encourage violence, and help incite the Jan. 6 attempted coup on the US Capitol," BuzzFeed News reported Monday.

"Titled "Stop the Steal and Patriot Party: The Growth and Mitigation of an Adversarial Harmful Movement," the report is one of the most important analyses of how the insurrectionist effort to overturn a free and fair US presidential election spread across the world's largest social network — and how Facebook missed critical warning signs. The report examines how the company was caught flat-footed as the Stop the Steal Facebook group supercharged a movement to undermine democracy, and concludes the company was unprepared to stop people from spreading hate and incitement to violence on its platform," BuzzFeed reported. "The report's authors, who were part of an internal task force studying harmful networks, published the document to Facebook's internal message board last month, making it broadly available to company employees. But after BuzzFeed News revealed the report's existence last week, many employees were restricted from accessing it."

Buzzfeed published the report in full, due to the "newsworthiness and historical significance of the report and it's revelations."

Its amazing how many of these idiots have self incriminated in public, thinking they would be honored for their efforts.  Aside from the strupid ones that posted their own evidence of wrongdoing, I am very heartened by the number of people, including family members, who have turned them in. 

If I can just take a SWAG at some numbers, I read only about 30% of ALL Americans agree with those idiots.  If they bothered to do the numbers they would figure out the chances of getting "outed" are pretty good. Which is another reason why jails are full.

I think it’s a pretty ridiculous idea,” Brendan Hunt, 37, said in Brooklyn federal court, according to the New York Daily News.

Hunt is accused of making threats against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, and others, following the 2020 election. On Tuesday, he said the remarks, which included encouraging followers to “kill your senators,” came out of “frustration with things in general.”

“I had been listening over the last few years to a lot of rhetoric and a lot of political rhetoric on both sides of the aisle. A lot of stuff on the left was mentioning things like ‘kill Trump’ ... One of my favorite actors, Johnny Depp, said he wanted to do a John Wilkes Booth on Trump,” Hunt said. “I was taking out my frustration on my family members as well ... “It’s been very difficult seeing elected officials and other individuals kind of whitewash the events of that day or downplay what happened,” Fanone told CNN anchor Don Lemon on Tuesday night.

The officer said that ex-President Donald Trump’s false claim that the insurrections were giving “hugs and kisses” during the attack was “very different from what I experienced and what my co-workers experienced on the 6th.”

Trump’s rosy framing of the attack was “dangerous,” Fanone said.

“I experience a group of individuals that were trying to kill me to accomplish their goal,” he told Lemon before pausing to take a deep breath.

“Man, I didn’t think I’d get this emotional,” the officer said after a few moments. “I mean, I experienced the most brutal, savage hand-to-hand combat of my entire life, let alone my policing career, which spans almost two decades. It was nothing that I had ever thought would be a part of my law enforcement career and nor was I prepared to experience.”

Near the end of the interview, Fanone emphasized again the indesputable violence and brutality at the hands of the Trump supporters.

That’s according to a lawsuit Quinn filed recently against a central Florida man, Jeff Hawks, whom she alleges promised to pay her back for travel expenses for the Trump rally.

Hawks is the founder of a Tampa-based group called “Community Patriots.” And, according Quinn’s lawsuit, Hawks promised to Quinn that Community Patriots would cover his tab and that of another man who joined the trip, Carl Prewitt.

Now, Quinn’s suing Hawks and another man she alleges indicated that he’d cover expenses related to the trip, Scott Courtney, demanding $3,700 for hotel rooms, a rental car fee — and the reimbursement of her $250 lifetime Community Patriots membership.

An Oregon lawmaker now faces criminal charges after opening the doors of the Oregon statehouse to far-right protesters in December.

Rep. Mike Nearman (R) faces misdemeanor charges of official misconduct in the first degree and criminal trespass in the second degree, according to a criminal information filed Friday. Nearman’s arraignment is scheduled for May 11.

The charges come months after state police began investigating the Dec. 21 incident, in which Nearman exited the Capitol and, in so doing, allowed a throng of far-right protesters in through the same doorway. As lawmakers held a special legislative session inside the Capitol, protesters beelined toward the doorway Nearman had opened, clashing with police.

The scene at the statehouse that day, caught on surveillance camera footage that was later released to local outlets pursuing public records requests, was one of several state-level precursors to the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. Elsewhere around the legislative building, protesters broke glass doors in an attempt to breach the building.

According to the misconduct charge against him, Nearman “did unlawfully and knowingly perform an act which constituted an unauthorized exercise of his official duties, with intent to obtain a benefit or to harm another.”

Oregon police are investigating one of their own over his apparent support for an anti-government extremist group.

Cpl. Joshua Spano, of Bend police, was photographed wearing a keychain reading "molon labe" -- which militant groups favor as a challenge to "come and take" their guns -- while arresting a community activist who's currently in a legal fight with the city over police records, and his social media accounts show similar support for the right-wing III Percent militia, reported Oregon Public Broadcasting.

The officer arrested Mike Satcher on Saturday on criminal trespassing charges as he volunteered providing food and showers to unhoused individuals, and the activist's Central Oregon Peacekeepers group circulated photos showing Spano's uniform during the arrest and screenshots from his personal media accounts showing imagery associated with anti-government groups.

One screenshot shows a leg tattoo of the Statue of Liberty holding a pistol and silencer, with the "molon labe" phrase, and the 2013 post was captioned, "Love my country, hate my government."

A 2017 post shows a collection of patches associated with the III Percenter militia, whose members have been charged in the Jan. 6 insurrection, and a notebook whose cover reads, "People To Kill."

Chief Mike Krantz, of Bend police, said the "molon labe" keychain was "inconsistent with the uniform," but told OPB he was unaware of Spano's social media activity.

"It's also alleged by several, I don't know who makes these determinations, that it somehow supports extremist ideologies," Krantz said. "There's no place in policing for extremism or violent ideology."

Kevin McCarthy is likely particularly against a Congressional investigation of the Jan. 6 Republican Insurrection because in all likelihood he would be called to testify under oath about the insurrectionist in chief.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) is reportedly worried about at least one thing in particular if Congress successfully put together a bipartisan commission to study the Capitol insurrection on January 6: Being forced to share under oath his allegedly explosive communications with then-President Donald Trump on that day.

CNN correspondent Jamie Gangel reported on Wednesday that McCarthy is, in her words, “very concerned” that the commission would call on him to testify on his call with Trump in which the GOP leader pleaded the President to call off the mob of his supporters.

“[McCarthy] does not want to do that,” Gangel said.

The House Republican leader, who’s been hard at work trying to get into Trump’s good graces in the aftermath of the insurrection, refuses to discuss the details of that call, especially when asked to confirm Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler’s (R-WA) claim that Trump had told him “well, Kevin, I guess these people are more upset about the election then you are.”

“My conversations with the President are my conversations with the President,” McCarthy told Fox News last week.

A lawyer for an accused Capitol rioter says his client had “Foxitis” after watching Fox News often, according to multiple reports.

During a virtual hearing, a lawyer for Anthony Antonio explained that his client began watching Fox News often after he was lost his job at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, according to CNN.

“He became hooked with what I call ‘Foxitus’ or ‘Foxmania’ and became interested in the political aspect and started believing what was being fed to him,” attorney Joseph Hurley said, according to a HuffPost report.

Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) is running away from being served in the lawsuit over the Jan. 6 Republican Insurrection. Clearly he fears being deposed under oath. What a little bitch.

Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) has been evading efforts to serve him a complaint in Rep. Eric Swalwell’s lawsuit against the Alabama Republican over his role in inciting the Capitol insurrection on Jan. 6, according to Swalwell’s lawyer.

“We have been attempting to serve our complaint on Mo Brooks for more than a month,” Philip Andonian told Punchbowl on Friday.

“I talked to staffers in his D.C. office who promised a response from someone, which never came,” he continued. “I sent the complaint and a waiver of service form in a detailed email to his chief of staff and counsel, which to date remains unanswered.”

The lawyer said that “t seems clear that Brooks is choosing to make a political stunt out of a part of the process that essentially is a formality, which is unfortunate.”

“Although not surprising,” he added.

In contrast, ex-President Donald Trump and the other defendants in the case, including his son Donald Trump Jr. and his former lawyer Rudy Giuliani, have agreed to waive service, Andonian said.

The Capitol Police IG testified for the need to beef up the intelligence capabilities of the force because of an explosion of terrorist threats against members of Congress. Gee, I wonder which party the bulk of the threats are directed at.

Capitol Police Inspector General Michael Bolton testified Monday to the need to bulk up Capitol police’s intelligence resources as the force drowns in threats against lawmakers.

Bolton said that his office identified the manpower shortage at least back in September 2020 and that the “caseload has basically exploded” since then.

Capitol police responded to Bolton’s newest flash report — his third, following others that contained alarming revelations about expired munitions and restrictions on what kinds of “less-lethal” force officers could use — highlighting the growth in threats with a grim statistic.

“This year alone, there has been a 107% increase in threats against Members compared to 2020,” the department wrote in a statement. “Provided the unique threat environment we currently live in, the Department is confident the number of cases will continue to increase.”

The Capitol police, in the statement, asked for resources and buy-in from congressional stakeholders to help deal with the influx.

“In 2020, the USSS, which has more than 100 agents and analysts, had approximately 8,000 cases,” the statement said of the Secret Service. “During the same time period, the USCP, which has just over 30 agents and analysts, had approximately 9,000 cases.”

It sounds like the Capitol Police department has been expected to do the work of the FBI or other agencies even though they're staffed like the security police at a shopping mall.

Another Republican organization teams up with a known domestic terrorist organization.

On May 1, ahead of a secret meeting to oust their chairman for being too inclusive, the Republican Party of Multnomah County, Oregon signed a contract to receive security forces from a local man named Daniel Tooze.

“We were greatly pleased to discover you, and your extensive experience with church events, weddings, and various patriotic events,” three of the party’s top leaders wrote Tooze in a letter, a copy of which was obtained by The Daily Beast. “Dan, as we have discussed our focus is on having a safe event with no problems.”

But Tooze was not your average security guard, as Willamette Week first reported. He was, as a quick Google search would have shown, a prominent associate of the Proud Boys, the far-right paramilitary group deeply implicated in the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. He has previously shared pictures of himself in the group’s uniform, with a caption identifying the group by name.

And as the Multnomah County Republican Party charted a more Trumpist path one night last week, members of Tooze’s security force patrolled the quiet residential area, where they argued with locals who were uncomfortable with their presence.

In 2018, when March For Our Lives arrived in D.C. and hit the road to spread awareness, much of the group’s focus was on who could access guns and what kind of guns they could get their hands on. As one of the faces of this movement, Hogg faced ongoing harassment from conservatives and even became the subject of wild conspiracy theories claiming he was a crisis actor being coached by his father, a former FBI agent. And earlier this year, a 2019 video resurfaced of QAnon Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) following him down the street and berating him over his beliefs. He doesn’t engage with her; in response to the clip, fellow QAnon conspiracist Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) suggested he wasn’t “tough” enough.

“For me at this point, it’s no longer surprising since it’s happened so much,” Hogg said about incidents like these. “It’s just in that instance, she [Greene] happened to get elected to Congress and be stupid enough, in my opinion, to post it on the internet, because trust me, there are easily ten times more people like that that either recorded and never got elected to Congress or didn’t record it at all and just followed me and harassed me, tried to run me off the road, etcetera, absolutely crazy stuff.”
