Another responsible gun owner!

Walmart responded to the shooting in which a gun went off and a bullet hit four people, including the gun’s owner.

It happened at the Walmart on Tara Boulevard in Lovejoy [Georgia].

“One of the patrons inside of the business had mishandled the firearm, and that firearm had discharged. The firearm struck the patron in his leg, and subsequently hit three other patrons that were inside the business as well.

“The gun was in his waistband not holstered and loaded. The gun slipped down his leg, he attempted to grab it, and was somehow manipulating the weapon and discharged the firearm,” said Sgt. Akeem Turnbull with Lovejoy Police.

Turnbull said the gun belonged to 29-year old Michael Walton. The bullet struck Walton and three other customers.

If he grabbed it and fired a round then it is most likely that there was either already one in the chamber or he was carrying a revolver without an empty chamber under the hammer. But yeah, let's get ourselves some more open carry!

The story of the ghost gun parts company that dodged the law and is supplying the pieces for thousands of illegally owned guns.

As Nevada lawmakers heard public comment last year on a bill to ban ghost guns and the parts used to make them, a resident of the rural town of Dayton called into the hearing to offer his opinion. The privately made firearms are virtually untraceable because they lack a serial number and can be easily purchased online and assembled by people who otherwise wouldn’t be able to legally buy a gun.

“I do not care if this bill passes or not,” said the man, who identified himself only as Loran Kelley. “I am just informing you that we, as Americans, just will not comply with it no matter what you do.”

What he didn’t mention to the committee is that he owns a company called Polymer80, one of the country’s most prolific manufacturers of ghost gun kits and parts. His vow to defy such regulations is as much about principle as profit, even as thousands of untraceable guns bearing the P80 stamp have turned up at crime scenes from Los Angeles to Baltimore.

According to court documents, the vast majority of ghost guns recovered by law enforcement nationwide are built from Polymer80 parts. That’s why Nevada lawmakers were debating the bill: Anti-gun violence advocates saw a unique opportunity to shut down the flow of ghost gun parts to the rest of the country by going after the source.

“You can say you can’t possess an unserialized gun, but you need to be able to go up the supply chain if you want to stop this problem,” said David Pucino, deputy chief counsel for Giffords Law Center, who helped draft the Nevada legislation.

Advocates viewed the Nevada law as a potentially more effective tactic than the patchwork of efforts brought to bear so far.

And it almost worked.

The Legislature passed Assembly Bill 286 on a party-line vote in May 2021. In seven months, when the new law took effect, Polymer80 would be out of the ghost gun kit-making business. At least in Nevada.

But thanks to a strategically chosen court venue in rural Nevada and with the help of the New York law firm Greenspoon Marder, Polymer80 won a decision vacating the section of law that would have halted its ghost gun business. While it is now illegal to assemble or possess a ghost gun in Nevada, it remains legal to possess and transport the components of a ghost gun.

As a result, the parts that some use to evade gun-control laws and others use to pursue their hobby of homemade gunmaking continue to flow from Polymer80 to the rest of the country.

Anti-gun violence advocates say their court defeat in Nevada underlines the weakness of a state-by-state approach to closing the ghost gun loophole. They also noted that the bipartisan federal gun bill signed into law in June in response to a spate of mass shootings does nothing to address the problem of ghost guns.

“The state level laws are really important but can only go so far,” Pucino said. “Really we need a federal solution.”

A Texas judge has just put guns back in the hands of non-military people under age 20. In a landmark ruling, Judge Mark Pittman of the U.S. District Court of Fort Worth ruled that there was “no historical tradition” to legally stop the age group from carrying guns in public, despite a Supreme Court decision banning young people from carrying in public except in self-defense. The ruling, likely to be appealed, found that the ban violates the Second Amendment and that “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed” adding that “the undisputed historical evidence establishes that 18-to-20-year-olds were understood to be a part of the militia in the Founding Era.” The ruling is suspended for 30 days to allow the state to appeal.

Now that a mass shooting was conducted in a suburban neighborhood will people talk about gun control/safety?  People seem to believe they happen only in schools or the "inner city" of Chicago and New York.  The alleged shooter is 15.

The dead include a city police officer, Gabriel Torres, 29, who was on his way to work when he was shot on Thursday afternoon, Chief Patterson said. She identified the other victims as a 52-year-old woman, a 49-year-old woman, a 35-year-old woman and a 16-year-old boy.

The suspected gunman, whose identity the authorities have not disclosed, is in a hospital in critical condition, the authorities said. It is unclear how and when he was injured. Two other people were wounded in the shootings, Chief Patterson said: a 59-year-old man who was in critical condition and a police officer who was treated at a hospital and released.

It was not immediately clear whether any of the victims knew the gunman, and the police chief did not provide any details about what kind of gun he used.

Shooter who killed three students at University of Virginia arrested, police say

Christopher Jones Jr, 22, was taken into custody off-campus after the student and former football player killed at least three students at the University of Virginia (UVA), said UVA police chief Tim Longo.

A motive for the shooting is still unknown.

The shooting took place on Sunday around 10:30pm eastern time in a parking garage on campus after students had returned from seeing a play in Washington DC for a class, said university officials.

All three victims were members of the UVA football team, said the university’s president, Jim Ryan. The victims have been identified as Devin Chandler, Lavel Davis Jr, and D’Sean Perry. Chandler and Davis Jr were both juniors, and Perry was a senior student.

A woman is in the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds this week after a neighbor allegedly shot her in a dispute over barking dogs, Georgia authorities said. The victim, whose identity was not released by the Flowery Branch Police Department, was found wounded in her own home just after 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. Authorities applied a tourniquet to her wounds, and she was transported to a local hospital, where her condition was listed as stable on Tuesday night. Investigators quickly identified Fonda Spratt as the alleged shooter, and the 56-year-old was arrested and charged a short time later, according to The Telegraph. Flowery Branch police said the dispute is believed to have “originated over a complaint of barking dogs.” Though it was unclear to whom the animals belonged, Spratt is accused of barging into the victim’s home and confronting her “about the barking dogs before presenting a firearm and discharging it toward the victim multiple times,” police said, with Chief Christopher Hulsey calling the incident “incredibly unfortunate.”

By the time Thanksgiving rolled around this year, the nation had witnessed 609 mass shootings but had not lost its appetite for guns. Data obtained by The Daily Beast reveals that more Americans tried to buy firearms on Black Friday than they did last year.

In just the 13 days leading up to the annual post-Thanksgiving shopping orgy, there had been enough gun violence to weary any sane county. Three dead and two wounded at the University of Virginia. Five dead and 17 shot at a gay nightclub in Colorado. Six dead at a Virginia Walmart, including a 16-year-old new hire who had spent his first paycheck on a present for his mother.

But come Friday, Americans flocked to buy guns just as they did for Apple AirPods and Revlon One Step hair dryers. The FBI said that its National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) conducted 192,749 background checks—up from 187,585 last year and dispiritingly close to the record of 203,086 set in 2017.

There is literally no amount of death that will shake the gun nuts.

For a large part of the history of the United States, domestic abuse was tolerated under the nation’s legal system. There were few laws criminalizing domestic violence, and enforcement of the existing laws was rare.

It was only in the past few decades that laws criminalizing domestic violence came to be widespread and enforced. But now, the U.S. is in danger of backtracking on that legal framework precisely because of the nation’s historical legacy of turning a blind eye to domestic violence.

On Nov. 10, 2022, a judge in the Western District of Texas struck down the federal law that prohibits access to guns for people subject to domestic violence protection orders. He did this based on a 2022 U.S. Supreme Court ruling, NYSRPA v. Bruen, which held that, to be constitutional, a firearm restriction must be analogous to laws that were in existence when the country was founded. In other words, disarming domestic abusers violates the Second Amendment because those types of laws didn’t exist at the founding of the country.

The ruling has since been appealed to the 5th Circuit Court. The outcome of the appeal is far is from certain.

We study the link between gun laws and domestic violence in the U.S. and know that backtracking on laws that prevent the perpetrators of domestic violence from getting their hands on guns will put lives at risk – the research has proved this time and time again.

BTW since no laws existed banning explosives or any specific type of firearm then everything needs to be free to purchase. Nothing like a Claymore Mine at each doorway for home protection and a fully automatic firearm in case there's a survivor.

For that matter domestic abuse laws didn't even exist. How DARE the libs take away a man's right to beat his property when it disobeys him! No wonder women and children have become so uppity.

This is a common trait among these people. They want to spread lies designed to attack and suppress reality based equality movements or, at the very least, tell us we need to ignore those movements. The TSA has said that many travelers caught with guns in their carry-ons report they forget they were there, as if it’s of some comfort that these careless travelers meant no harm.

But that’s even more troubling. Responsible gun ownership means you are always aware of where your gun is at all times. The fact that the TSA is finding so many guns, most of them loaded, possibly being transported at 30,000 feet, intentionally or unintentionally, should alarm us all.
