Far-right conspiracy theorist Alex Jones says he has found “someone way better” than former President Donald Trump to support for president in 2024: Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

The InfoWars host and “Stop the Steal” advocate announced on his broadcast this week that he had “pigheadedly” supported the twice-impeached ex-president for years, but those days were long gone.

An outspoken anti-vaxxer, Jones claimed to his audience that he already “disagreed” with the Trump administration’s Operation Warp Speed and the ex-president’s mild-at-best advocacy for the COVID-19 vaccines. However, he felt “we had to keep him in office because of the nightmare scenario” of either a Hillary Clinton or Joe Biden presidency.

Jones was a key MAGA media figure who pushed the “big lie” that Trump lost the 2020 presidential election due to widespread voter fraud, and was present during the Capitol insurrection. Since then, the Justice Department began investigating his role in the riots and he has been subpoenaed by the Jan. 6 House committee, which recently received texts that his lawyers accidentally leaked during his latest Sandy Hook trial.

“With that said, I am supporting DeSantis,” Jones declared on InfoWars this week. “DeSantis has just gone from being awesome to being unbelievably good. And I don’t just watch a man’s actions, as Christ said. Judge a tree by its fruits. I can also look in his eyes on HD video, and I see the real sincerity.”

He added: “This is what Trump should be like. And I’ve been hammering this point, and he’s doing it now. And we have someone that is better than Trump. Way better than Trump.”

The judge tells them that they aren't to do any independent research. No googling. No media coverage. Steer clear of the press conferences outside the courthouse.

Republicans really don't have any respect for the law. It's simply a tool to punish their enemies and is to never be used against them, no matter how guilty they are.

1st Amendment free speech was not on trial here. The key on Jones is that he made sooo much money using his lies about this and other things.  He kept people stirred up, listening to him, and buying the stuff he was selling. That's where some of the size of these awards against him lie.  That and the sheer repugnance of him claiming the parents were crisis actors, that the kids weren't ever alive...apparently to the point where nutbags were talking about digging up the casket of one kid to prove that it was empty.

Alex Jones Lawyer Suspended

Norm Pattis, who defended Alex Jones in a landmark defamation suit brought by the Sandy Hook families, has been suspended from the practice of law for allegedly releasing the confidential medical records of family members of Sandy Hook victims.

Pattis is currently representing, among others, Joe Biggs, a Florida Proud Boys member in trial in DC on charges of seditious conspiracy. Pattis is trying to get the suspension stayed so he can continue working on Biggs’ trial.

The Connecticut lawyer who defended Alex Jones in a defamation case brought by parents of victims of the Sandy Hook school shooting massacre has been benched from representing another high-profile client in the Proud Boys Jan. 6 case.

Attorney Norm Pattis, who called the plight of client Joseph R. Biggs a “righteous fight” when he joined the case in June, was suspended from practicing law by a judge in his home state.

Biggs is charged alongside Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio, Zachary Rehl, Dominic Pezzola, and Ethan Nordean with seditious conspiracy in connection with the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. The five men are accused of plotting to use force to stop Congress from certifying Joe Biden‘s 2020 electoral win that day, when mobs of Donald Trump supporters swarmed the Capitol building, causing an estimated $2.7 million in damage and forcing lawmakers and staff to either evacuate the building or shelter in place.

Connecticut Judge Barbara Bellis on Thursday had issued an order barring Pattis from practicing law for six months in the state because he had improperly shared protected information of the parents of victims of the Sandy Hook school massacre who were suing Jones for defamation.

Pattis has applied for a stay of the suspension from Pattis pending an appeal. The Connecticut Office of Disciplinary Counsel has objected. Bellis has indicated that she will consider the matter during a hearing on Friday.

On Tuesday, Pattis, who was present in court but not participating as a lawyer, told Law&Crime that he expects Bellis to deny his request for a stay, and that if so, he would appeal to the Connecticut Supreme Court.

Pattis also indicated that he would expect to win on an “extraordinary circumstances” argument.

“The parties are on the cusp of evidence and have been engaged in two weeks of jury selection,” Pattis said in a court filing regarding the suspension. “Mr. Biggs would be deprived of counsel of choice by his immediate suspension, [and other] defendants would also be prejudiced” by Pattis’ removal from the case.

Pattis told Law&Crime that his antipathy toward Bellis is “no secret,” and he believes that the judge is improperly prejudiced against him.

A Texas bankruptcy court ruled on the liquidation of Jones' assets in June of this year, handing over control to an independent trustee tasked with selling them off to generate the greatest possible value for the families.
