The Pasco County, FL Sheriff's Office has created a broad surveillance program of people they view as potential future criminals, including schoolchildren. I wonder where the MAGAts who supposedly abhor the "deep state" are now? There's a pitch in defense of the program.
And, as expected, there's the reality of it.
Pasco County. NOT surprised. Wonder if they looked at “opioid prescriptions” in their criteria? Somehow, I doubt it.

Oops! I guess it was just an "honest" mistake. I'm sure he didn't throw it in there. I'm vastly less sure he didn't place it gently in there.

Finally some indictments in a two year old murder by police. I saw the video this morning. It was gut wrenching. It literally came down to "RESPECT MY AUTHORITY!" against a young black man who was simply walking home with a bag of groceries. This shows how serious these murderers and their enablers took his death.
The Aurora PD is STILL defending their actions. They're playing the victim, of course.

Nothing to see here, but only because they desperately made sure it stayed hidden. But hey, don't call them racists. After all they like that black guy on the force.

Yep, no racism here.

The sick, twisted, sadistic, violent cops have been charged and the city had to pony up $3 million. It should have been more and I hope but don't expect the cops to go to jail for a long time.

At first blush, that seemed like a sensible way to approach policing. A heck of a lot better than broken tail light pull overs. But this is sobering: Predictive policing uses an amassment of crime statistics to monitor location-based “hot spots” and also information used to mark people with criminal records but also histories of drug use. Research has repeatedly found that predictive policing tools further entrench racist policing practices. The LAPD stopped using the program LASER, for example, in 2019 after the inspector general found that among other things, the program allowed police to stop people on the “Chronic Offenders” list merely for being on the list, and a name could end up on the list for fuzzily-defined reasons such as supposed gang affiliation. It was also unclear whether someone ended up on the list even if they were arrested but weren’t convicted of a crime.

Minnesota has a great idea to keep you from getting shot.
That's so smart! Per stats I looked up there are 185 officers per 100,000 residents in MN. So the obvious thing to do is to put the onus of NOT getting shot on the 99.815% rather than on the 0.185% who are getting paid and given taxpayer funded training.

In this computerized age officers don't need to see the car registration. They can find that by checking the license plate number. A few years ago when I was in an auto accident I offered to show the officer all those things and he only wanted the DL.

That’s similar to my experience earlier this year when I had my wreck on vacation. The officers looked at my DL (hard copy) and my insurance info (on my phone), but when I offered to retrieve the registration from the glove box I was told they didn’t need it.

I read an e mail that several states have agreed to accept "electronic" driver's licences, registrations etc. www.usatoday.com/story/travel/news/2020/02/19/real-id-dmv-documents-allowed-electronically-meet-deadline/4739261002/

BTW, Do you all have real ID? I just realized I don't, and my passport is expired. Ugh. Cannot board a flight after October 1!

Got a real ID last October because my DL was expiring. Big waste of time. And I don't know how young people who are still living with their parents are supposed to come up with "proof" of their residence. They usually don't have a utility bill or a lease to show.
