A CNN report found that Herschel Walker—a Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate in Georgia—repeatedly made false statements when he said he graduated in the top 1 percent of his class at the University of Georgia, including as recently as 2017. In fact, Walker never graduated from the university, and when he attended, he maintained a “B” average while he played football. The report also included excerpts from Walker’s high school yearbooks and newspaper articles written about him at the time, none of which name him as valedictorian, as he’s claimed to be (though they did note his recognition as an honors candidate during his high school graduation). Walker’s campaign blasted the report in statements to CNN, first arguing that no voter would care about whether the distinction (or lack thereof) “has any bearing on his ability to be a great United States Senator” and then blasting the questions themselves. “Multiple reporters wrote about this 40 years ago. If you have a problem with what they wrote, please contact them. If you have a difficult time getting in touch with them, ask yourself why you are asking such a stupid question,” Walker’s campaign manager said.

He had a football scholarship.  My son's freshman dorm in what was then a PAC 10 powerhouse was also the home of the football team, at least those who weren't eligible yet to live off campus.  Those guys had "classes" that weren't at all what the real freshmen did.  They had no set time for lecture etc. Seemed more like the acting profession's on set schooling for juveniles.

Fake Trump Elector Is On The Ballot

Kelly Ruh, one of the dozens of sham electors Trump and his cronies had assembled in several states in their scheme to steal the 2020 election, is running for reelection as a city council member in De Pere, Wisconsin in the state’s local elections today.

• A Wisconsin MAGA activist who organized a local “Stop the Steal” rally on Jan. 6 last year is running for city council, too.

Another at least nominally patriotic House Republican is retiring. There is no room for anybody but the crazies and the ones who know how to obey.

Rep. Fred Upton (R-MI), one of the 10 House members who voted to impeach former President Donald Trump over the Jan. 6 insurrection, announced his retirement Tuesday morning.

In an occasionally emotional speech from the House floor, Upton recounted the work he was proudest of and reeled off a list of his coworkers’ names in gratitude.

“We’ve been hitting the road to push for civility,” he said of those peers. “Hopefully, civility and bipartisanship versus discord can rule, not rue, the day.”

Upton joins Reps. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), Anthony Gonzalez (R-OH) and John Katko (R-NY) in departing the chamber after their consequential impeachment votes.

“UPTON QUITS!” Trump crowed in a press release. “4 down and 6 to go. Others losing badly, who’s next?”

Upton had already attracted a primary challenger minted with Trump’s endorsement. Redistricting also would have thrown him into battle with Rep. Bill Huizenga (R-MI) for a newly-created district.

Still, Upton was torn over the decision for months, earlier in 2022 releasing a campaign ad indicating that he would seek reelection.

Upton boasts one of the longest tenures among Republicans in the House, having been first elected in 1986.

No House Republicans voted to impeach Trump the first time — over withholding military aid to Ukraine — and only Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) did so in the upper chamber.

Upton joined the larger group in voting to impeach Trump on January 13, 2021, a week after the mob of Trump supporters stormed the Capitol.

Trump endorses "Dr" Oz because he stroked his enormous ego but the MAGAts don't much like him. With a suspicious first name like "Mehmet" is it any shock? 

Shortly after former President Trump announced his endorsement of celebrity doctor Mehmet Oz in the hotly contested Pennsylvania Senate GOP primary, a slew of Trumpworld figures fired up social media with their apparent disapproval of the former president’s new endorsee to replace retiring Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA).



In a statement issued Saturday night, the former president announced his endorsement of Oz. Trump bragged that Oz backed up his claims of being in “extraordinary health,” which apparently made the former president “like him even more (although he also said I should lose a couple of pounds!).”



Trump also seemed to be swayed by Oz’s longtime television career, telling rally-goers on Saturday night that the 18-year run of the celebrity doctor’s now-defunct TV show is “like a poll” which, in his words, translates to: “people like you.”



Well before gaining Trump’s endorsement, Oz maintained close ties with the former president since Trump appeared on his show to discuss his health while running for the presidency in 2016. Trump shared what he said were his medical records with the TV doctor, who deemed them “comprehensive.” Oz was later appointed to the Trump administration’s health council.

It depends on where the money comes from.  Lots of out of state money rolled into various US Senator races in 2022 to challengers in South Carolina, Michigan, Georgia to existing Reps and hardly any of them got elected.  Cheney's status will be precarious if people in Wyoming decide they're not going to vote for her when they hear that so much money is coming in from outside the state.

The Colorado Republican Party on Saturday officially threw its support behind U.S. Senate primary candidate Ron Hanks, a GOP state representative who’s been advancing ex-President Donald Trump’s Big Lie about the 2020 election.

During the state Republican GOP’s assembly in Colorado Springs over the weekend, Hanks got 39 percent of the vote from assembly delegates to be on the Republican primary ballot, clearing the required 30 percent threshold.

Hanks is an outspoken voter fraud conspiracy theorist who, like other pro-MAGA election deniers, falsely claims that Trump was the true winner of the 2020 election.

In fact, Hanks boosted the lie at the convention on Saturday and even compared the election to the terrorist attacks on 9/11.

“I fully expected Donald Trump to win in 2020 — and he did,” the candidate declared, per the Associated Press. “When we saw what we saw on election night in 2020, it changed everything just like the changes we felt after 9/11.”

Even Colorado's Tina Peters, who stole and mishandled election data, has their overwhelming support for Secretary of State where she would be in charge of elections despite being under indictment for illegal election activity.

Tina Peters, the Colorado county clerk now facing federal charges for an alleged conspiracy theory-fueled scheme to breach her county election systems’ security protocols, was the clear favorite of core Republican Party voters who met Saturday to pick their 2022 candidates.

Roughly 3,700 delegates attended Saturday’s state Republican Party assembly, and Peters received 61% of the vote for Secretary of State, more than twice what was necessary to appear on the primary ballot, the Associated Press reported. That was the highest percentage of any candidate in any contested race Saturday, Colorado Public Radio noted.

Should she win the June primary and November’s general election, Peters would be Colorado’s top elections official.

The overwhelming support from party faithful came despite — or, maybe, because of — Peters’ recent 10-count federal indictment for an alleged scheme to bypass election data security protocols in the Mesa County clerk’s office.

“They made me sleep on the concrete jail floor for 30 hours, because I protected your election data,” Peters, who’s actually accused of criminally doing the opposite, told the crowd Saturday.

Peters’ alleged scheme, according to the indictment, involved stealing the identity of a local man in order to create an extra security pass for the elections office. It resulted in the distribution of confidential information from county election systems, a federal grand jury charged.

That information ultimately surfaced at a “symposium” organized by Mike Lindell, the CEO of MyPillow and a major funder of the movement to sow doubt about the 2020 elections.

Peters has been prohibited by a judge from handling election matters, but that didn’t stop the Republican delegates gathered Saturday from throwing their weight behind her.

The top vote-getter Saturday to be Colorado’s next governor, Greg Lopez, said in a speech that “if Tina Peters should be falsely accused — as governor, I will pardon her.”

One Pennsylvania Republican has found out what it means when you aren't sufficiently loyal to Lord Gawd Trump.

Former President Trump on Tuesday knocked his old friend Pennsylvania GOP gubernatorial candidate — who Trump once appointed as a U.S. attorney — for doing “absolutely nothing” to push his bogus claims of widespread election fraud.

In a statement riddled with baseless claims of election fraud, Trump declared that he will not endorse Bill McSwain in the upcoming GOP primary in the Pennsylvania governor’s race.

“He was the U.S. Attorney who did absolutely nothing on the massive Election Fraud that took place in Philadelphia and throughout the commonwealth,” Trump said.

“Do not vote for Bill McSwain, a coward, who let our Country down,” he added. “He knew what was happening and let it go. It was there for the taking and he failed so badly.”

McSwain formerly served as served as the chief federal prosecutor in Philadelphia under the Trump administration during the most crucial days and weeks of the former president’s efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results.

He supported the Big Lie, McSwain just apparently did not Big Lie hard enough — and it seems his efforts to get Trump’s backing have failed. In his Tuesday statement, the former president insisted that McSwain “should have done his job anyway” even if Barr dissuaded him from pursuing baseless voter fraud allegations.

“Many of the U.S. Attorneys were probably told not to do anything by Barr,” Trump said. “Hence, our Country is going to hell.”

Madison Cawthorn may just be too stupid and too erratic to even hold onto MAGAt support.

The people who packed into an event hall on the outskirts of Asheville on Monday night for a Republican primary debate should be Rep. Madison Cawthorn’s people.

They ate up the MAGA red meat that the 26-year old congressman regularly dishes. They applauded at conspiracies of a stolen election, laughed at Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s age, and responded to candidates’ speeches with shouts of “Let’s go Brandon!”

It wasn’t long ago that nearly everyone in the room could say they were, proudly, Madison Cawthorn people. But in his 15 months in office, Cawthorn has amassed a streak of scandals, strategic misfires, and baffling statements that haven’t just tarnished the GOP faithful’s pride in him—they’ve sapped his support.

“At first, I thought it was the liberal media ganging up on him,” said Frank, an older man at the debate, who declined to give his last name. “Now, I’m thinking he’s not cut out for it.”

Richard Bennett, of nearby Brevard, admitted he was “a little disappointed” in Cawthorn.

“He seems,” Bennett said, “to have come unscrewed.”

Former NFL star Herschel Walker has made millions in business ventures since he retired in 1997, and he claims to be worth more than $29 million today.

But despite that success, the Republican Senate hopeful and longtime friend of Donald Trump has, for whatever reason, chosen to dramatically inflate his business record, according to a Daily Beast investigation. In doing so, Walker has established a parallel record of demonstrably false claims, many of which appear to bear no resemblance to reality whatsoever.

While Walker’s business record has been picked over before—including in an Associated Press review of “exaggerated claims of financial success”—The Daily Beast has reviewed documents and other records that shine new light on previously unexamined, and particularly egregious, false claims.

Those claims include running the largest minority-owned food company in the United States; owning multiple chicken plants in another state; and starting and owning an upholstery business which was also, apparently, at one point in his telling, the country’s largest minority-owned apparel company.

While the chasm between Walker’s vision and reality often appears staggering—and applies not just to business but to multiple dimensions of his personal life as well—he might be playing fast and loose with the concept of “ownership.” But it’s unclear whether he transposed this fanciful structure onto his candidate financial disclosure, which claims a net worth of between $29 million and $65 million, and which, according to a Georgia Public Broadcasting report, merits further scrutiny.

The claims about the upholstery business appear particularly divorced from the truth, as that business, as Walker describes it, doesn’t appear to exist.

Nebraska GOP state senator, seven other women say Charles Herbster groped them; he denies allegations

No surprise that this is the guy Donald Trump decided to endorse. Of course, he is the frontrunner.

Herbster, the CEO of Conklin Co. and now a frontrunner in the 2022 GOP primary race, sometimes went further, according to eight women who spoke with the Nebraska Examiner.

During an event in 2019, for example, Republican State Sen. Julie Slama confirmed that as she walked by Herbster, he reached up her skirt, without her consent, and touched her inappropriately. The incident happened in the middle of a crowded ballroom at the Douglas County Republican Party’s annual Elephant Remembers dinner.



At the time, Slama had been recently appointed to the District 1 legislative seat representing southeast Nebraska. Herbster owns a farm and a house in the district.



Another person attending the 2019 event saw Herbster reach up Slama’s skirt and had told the Examiner about it. That witness and two others said they saw Herbster grope another young woman on her buttocks at the same event.



When the Examiner asked Slama on Monday if the two incidents at the event had been described accurately, and whether Herbster had touched her under her skirt, Slama said: “Yes, confirmed,” but declined to discuss the incidents further.



Six women, including the woman Slama saw being groped at the Elephant Remembers dinner, told the Nebraska Examiner that Herbster touched them inappropriately when they were saying hello or goodbye to him, or when they were posing for a photograph by his side.

One of the most corrupt people in the wildly corrupt Trump administration is running for Senate.

Nearly four years after he resigned from the Trump administration amid a cloud of scandal and profligate spending of taxpayer dollars, Scott Pruitt — yes that Scott Pruitt — is running for Senate.

Pruitt’s Oklahoma State Election Board candidacy paperwork was posted Friday, the deadline to file, and flagged by Storme Jones of KWTV.

Pruitt’s gunning for the seat currently held by Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-OK), who won reelection in 2020 but announced in February that he would be retiring, triggering a special election for November. Inhofe has endorsed his former chief of staff Luke Holland for the seat.

As the administrator of Donald Trump’s Environmental Protection Agency, Pruitt had one core competency: He skillfully deregulated whatever he could get his hands on.

“The President feels as though Scott Pruitt has done a really good job with deregulating the government,” a Trump White House spokesperson said near the end of Pruitt’s 500-day tenure on the job.

But his deliciously wasteful spending — on everything from fountain pens to a soundproof phone booth to first-class flights (all the better to avoid being cursed out in the airport) — and the headlines it generated were an annoyance to the White House, and it ultimately did Pruitt in.

A few weeks before Pruitt’s exit, TPM attempted to tally his spending spree, including thousands on trips abroad, a leased SUV with Kevlar seats, and five-digit raises for a coterie of close advisors.

On his massive, 24/7 security detail alone, Pruitt cost taxpayers nearly $5 million — a bill that included “tactical pants.” At one point, the crack security team broke through a door, convinced Pruitt was unconscious inside, only to find him waking up from a nap.

Another racist running for Congress, as a Republican of course. She's Indian-American but apparently thinks all Chinese people look alike. Seriously.

A witness who testified that "all Chinese look alike" at a voter fraud hearing has filed to run for Congress as a Republican.

According to Melissa Nann Burke of Detroit News, Hima Kolanagireddy filed to run for Michigan's 6th Congressional District.

Hima Kolanagireddy, who is Indian-American, is best known for a viral video of her testimony about alleged voter fraud in the 2020 presidential race. The hearing was organized by Rudy Giuliani, an attorney for then-President Donald Trump.

Kolanagireddy argued that voter ID laws needed to be strengthened.

“A lot of people think Indians look alike. I think all Chinese people look alike. So, how would you tell? If some Chow show up, you can be anybody and you can vote,” she said at the time.

Kolanagireddy's campaign website cites her voter fraud testimony as part of her platform.

By "some Chow" I assume she's not referring to her lunch order.

Donald Trump's endorsed candidate for Congress in Tennessee's fifth congressional election effectively lost the race on Tuesday after being removed from the ballot.

"Morgan Ortagus, Baxter Lee and Robby Starbuck were voted off the primary ballot by the party's executive committee, Tennessee Republican Chairman Scott Golden confirmed Tuesday. Republican officials last week confirmed official challenges had been filed against the three, which triggered a technical removal from the ballot per party bylaws," the Tennessean reported.

Ortagus had been blasted as a carpetbagger who couldn't even name the three interstate highways in the district and couldn't name Chapel Hill's county.

In a statement, Ortagus said her ballot removal was "deeply disappointing."

"I'm a bonafide Republican by their standards, and frankly, by any metric," Ortagus said. "I'm further disappointed that the party insiders at the Tennessee Republican Party do not seem to share my commitment to President Trump's America First policies. As I have said all along, I believe that voters in Middle Tennessee should pick their representative - not establishment party insiders. Our team is evaluating the options before us."

Trump endorsed Ortagus in January.

Finally, a politician who will lower gas prices. Jim Marchant, who recently tweeted the preceding statement, must be one heckuva can-do sort of guy.

Alas, if Marchant manages to get elected to the office he is seeking, he will be in a position to do absolutely exactly and beyond a shadow of a doubt nothing at all in any way whatsoever that would remotely have even the most miniscule impact on the price of gasoline.

Marchant, you see, is running to be Nevada’s secretary of state.

That office (unlike, say, lieutenant governor) does have several important responsibilities, the most notable being the competent supervision of free and fair elections in Nevada.

Marchant is a Trumper conspiracy theorist who believes the 2020 election was stolen by a planetary cabal that manipulated voting machines. He is one of several loud-mouthed conspiracy enthusiasts nationwide running for offices that will be in charge of elections, the better to make sure that the next time Trump runs for president, his glorious victory will not be deprived merely because of some extraneous technicality like failing to have enough votes.

Lately Marchant has been barnstorming rural Nevada counties to tell them George Soros has secretly infiltrated their election systems so … Trump’s huge victories in their counties in the last two presidential elections were illegitimate? Just kidding, that’s not Marchant’s “point.” He’s merely trying to discredit democracy any way he can because that’s popular with Republicans and he wants to win an election while we still have them.

Yes, Marchant’s is an immoral and anti-American mission. But whether he’s been suckered in and believes all the global deep state conspiracy garbage that oozes from his piehole or he’s just saying that stuff because it’s what sells these days, it is, albeit in a vile and perverse way, related to the job he’s seeking.

Gas prices aren’t though.

I don't expect this to work but I enjoy the fact that it's freaking her out and keeps her sedition in the news. Judging from several recent stories about how her recent fundraising has gone negatives (paying more than she raised) I'd say that the freakout is real, not performance art for money.

On Tuesday, during an interview with former Trump attorney Jenna Ellis, far-right Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) complained about press access to the courtroom for hearings about the lawsuit challenging her eligibility to be on the ballot, scheduled for Friday.

"It's absurd what they are claiming and lying about," said Greene. "They're going to allow the press in the courtroom. The lawsuit against Greene alleges that she is an "insurrectionist" due to her sympathies with the January 6 Capitol rioters, and therefore ineligible to run for office under federal law.
