Shit! McConnell just went off into outer space. I think he's well on the path to be as bad as Feinstein.

His loss wouldn't do as much damage.

I'm betting he had a quick seizure that is the aftermath of the concussion he had a couple of months ago. My late father in law had these 5 second seizures where he'd do what McConnell did and then picked up right where he left off. He had an AVM and took anti seizure medication for years but sometime had break throughs like McConnell did.

Whatever it is/was, he looked and sounded pretty bad even before it happened. Seems ongoing to me not momentary.

Looks like McConnell had another mental lapse during some sort of press conference. Regardless of politics it's always sad to see a formerly smart and/or crafty person put themselves out in public for the world to see that they aren't what they used to be.

I hold enough contempt for him that I have little no sympathy. And that contempt goes far beyond mere politics. It is not just left vs. right. He helped set the stage for tRump and helped enable him to inflict the damage done to this country. He has conducted himself in such a sleazy, unethical, amoral manner that flies in the face of democracy that he deserves anything ill that may happen to him. Besides, at this point he is just grasping onto power for power's sake when he needs to step aside for his own sake.

I have been listening to the audiobook of Plunder, by author Brendan Ballou. It’s chocked full of examples of the evil of Private Equity firms. The industry is rapidly making life miserable for more and more Americans, and they spend obscene amounts of payola to legislators (like Sinema) to prevent oversight and regulation.
Trump 47 will grease their paths even more.

It’s possible that Congressman Pinocchio from New York will actually be booted from the House this week. Considering news reports are saying that he expects it himself…
Hmmm…there may be such a thing as “a bridge too far” for some in the GOP after all… There really is. Santos is OUTTA DERE! www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2023/12/01/george-santos-expulsion-house-vote/(GIF of baseball ump tossing a player would be nice)

Good old Gen Kelly. Didn't tell us any of this in real time.

Well, no doubt a poor choice of words by Kelly but they left out a bit of context in that headline. In any case, trying to educate Trump on anything is a fool's errand but at least he tried I guess?
In the expansive array of Kelly's errors, this seems fairly minor, though admittedly makes a good headline.

I'm sure he tried. When Kelly realized this guy was not educable or even willing to try, he should have told us. If not at the time he resigned due to some sort of misplaced loyalty to the office of the presidency, certainly when Trump was running for re-election in 2020. I hold this against him, Mattis, the brief Secretary of State whose name I don't remember but who called Trump a moron, and a whole bunch of less high profile folks who served in the Trump Administration. We were poorly served by all of them and we are suffering and will continue to suffer long term damage as a result.

Him too but I was thinking of the oil company guy. I was too lazy to look him up but now I have...Rex Tillerson. And in doing so I found that he was interviewed once at a charity event in 2018 but he didn't show up to say it during the 2020 campaign. He never confirmed or denied the moron comment.

There is certainly plenty of contempt to be had for those who chose to serve in the Trump white house. Whatever their intentions were are irrelevant given the outcome. The road to hell is paved with good intentions and all that. Most of them didn't speak out until they were wired to a book deal or waited until he was out of office. They are craven, self-serving cowards for the most part.
But to be clear, I place blame for the long-lasting damage of the Trump presidency not on them or even Trump. He was a leopard whose spots were plain for all to see. American voters chose to elect him anyway (kinda, sorta) and Republicans in congress, particularly in the Senate, chose to protect him even while it was clear he shouldn't hold any office, let alone President.
In fact, the two people I hold most responsible for Trump's damage are Mitch McConnell and Newt Gingrich, the enablers.
None of which justifies the Guardian headline, a paper I generally hold in high regard.
