Sexual Predator Mark Halperin Tries to Resurrect His Career

While its still up there are several posts at the old TRS about often wrong political hack, sexual predator, and all around pig Mark Halperin and his desperate attempts to salvage his career. Here's his latest attempt.

Disgraced reporter Mark Halperin has finally managed to make his long-sought after comeback with a new contract with “No Labels,” a D.C.-based policy group that believes he’s made amends since his firing over disturbing sexual harassment allegations, like rubbing his genitals against female colleagues.

The organization defended its decision to hire Halperin for a “short-term consulting project” in a statement to Punchbowl on Tuesday, saying that while Halperin’s actions were “reprehensible,” the reporter has done “the work required of anyone who has significantly harmed others.”

The statement made sure to mention that female leaders at No Labels had decided Halperin had earned another shot.

“Staff members of No Labels, including CEO Nancy Jacobson and Co-Executive Directors Margaret White and Liz Morrison, have spoken with Halperin and believe a second chance is warranted in this case,” the company said.

Why anybody would hire somebody who was as wrong and boneheaded in their prognostications as Halperin is beyond me. He and Chuck Todd are so awful they could open a school for aspiring reporters and call it The Trump School of Journalism.

It appears that he is not being universally welcomed by the employees of No Labels. Is it because he's a pig, living proof you can be constantly wrong and still have a career in journalism (outside the right-wing noise machine), or a bit of both?

The Washington Post reports that junior employees at the centrist think tank No Labels were incensed by the firm’s decision to hire disgraced journalist Mark Halperin, who has been accused of sexual misconduct by at least a dozen women.

Two of the angered employees were given paid time off “to think about what they wanted to do” in wake of Halperin’s hiring as a project consultant, No Labels Co-Executive Liz Morrison told the Post on Thursday, while another staffer is considering resigning altogether.

“[W]e support and respect their point of view,” Morrison said of the two staffers who were taking paid leave, “just as we do the decision of one of our colleagues to perhaps leave our organization.”

Looks like they admit that they got him for cheap but then you get what you pay for. I understand the second chance thing but this guy is a journalistic hack.

The decision to bring in Halperin rather a different qualified person without the baggage seemed to be a matter of cost efficiency; Nancy Jacobson, the company’s CEO, reportedly told people that she was able to hire the ex-journalist at a lower rate thanks to his determination to reenter the mainstream political sphere after he was fired from NBC over the sexual harassment allegations.

Another story about Halperin's new careers came up from back in April but I also saw this. Apparently "No Labels" is nothing more than a political lobbying group for the finance industry masquerading as a centrist "let's get things done" good governance group. So a shady group hired a shady perv. What a shock.

As House Republicans were crafting their Obamacare repeal bill in the spring of 2017, Nancy Jacobson, the founder and CEO of No Labels, a group that promotes bipartisan governance, wanted to spice up her organization’s Twitter feed.

So she turned to someone known for provocative political takes: her husband, longtime political operative Mark Penn.

In a tweet that March, written under Penn’s direction, No Labels took the unconventional position that Democrats were to blame for not being more willing to work with Republicans in the destruction of their party’s signature piece of modern legislation.

The blowback was harsh both inside and outside the organization, so much so that the tweet was subsequently deleted and Penn was taken off the handle. Asked about this episode this past week, Melanie Sloan, a spokesperson for No Labels, initially said that Penn had never been given effective control of the group’s account. But Jacobson later confirmed it.

“Has he given some ideas for six tweets? He gave ideas for six tweets, because I was saying there’s no edge here,” Jacobson conceded. “No more than 10, ever, in a one-week period, in God knows whatever month it was.” Later, she settled on saying he’d helped craft a “handful.”

A search for “edge” seems to be the prevailing ethos of Jacobson and No Labels these days. A group created with the goal of promoting political consensus and compromise has increasingly veered into explicit and occasionally heated political combat. And it’s not just by handing over its Twitter handle to one of Washington, D.C.’s most notorious operatives.

The group, which was founded as a champion of political bipartisanship, has been quietly courting donations from some of the most notoriously partisan money men and women in politics.

On to Halperin's other career. He was hired by and is apparently still at Newsmax. Sounds like just the right kind of cesspool for this giant turd. This is from last April.

Halperin, who began working for Newsmax after previous attempts at a mainstream media comeback were scuttled, appeared on Tuesday’s broadcast of John Bachmann Now to discuss the range of political topics, such as Major League Baseball’s decision to pull its All Star Game from Atlanta over Georgia’s new voting law.
