Answered over here. They just want to cover conflict and that requires giving the seditionists a platform.
EDIT: I should note that Republicans are constantly willing to get on TV to lie. Democrats need to get a lot more willing to do the same to call out the lies and also the TV personalities who allow the lies on their programs. "Gee, Chuck, how could you allow <insert GOPer> to just come on your show and lie almost unchallenged? Aren't you supposed to be a journalist who knows and respects the facts?"

The media also is terribly concerned with the appearance of balance. They must show "both sides", they believe, even when one of the sides is lying. I'm not sure why media still cares about balance...those who despise the "lame stream" have done so even as CNN et all book these folks on their shows. No one's mind will change.

This has been going on for decades, now, starting with the lie of "liberal bias". Media has bent over backwards for the right just to avoid that charge, so much so that they have had an out-and-out right-wing bias and no lie by a Repug is to be called out.
