You mean he'll claim it was cocktail party talk like Trump claims his sex bragging was just locker room talk?

You mean he'll claim it was cocktail party talk like Trump claims his sex bragging was just locker room talk? It's politician locker room talk. He was telling Cheney something that he thought would shut her up about a 25th Amendment based removal of Trump and that would offer her what she wanted...that he take an action of some sort that would get Trump out of office.

I swear they're already irradiating their "man packs". Another reason jails are full...I highlighted a part because he used the same cell phone to make calls to the FBI. Seriously, who would be dumb enough to threaten an FBI Agent ? That's a whole slew of new FEDERAL charges Proud Boy sent menacing texts to FBI agent investigating Capitol riot, DOJ saysWASHINGTON — The Justice Department says a South Florida man linked to the Proud Boys sent menacing text messages to an FBI agent after learning he was being investigated in connection with the Capitol riot. Barry Bennett Ramey was arrested Thursday morning on charges of assaulting police, engaging in physical violence on Capitol grounds, entering a restricted building and civil disorder stemming from his alleged role in the Jan. 6 assault on the U.S. Capitol Building. During the investigation of Ramey, FBI agents in Miami allegedly learned from multiple confidential sources that Ramey was included on a master list of Proud Boys members in Southern Florida. They also determined a cellphone associated with his number had been at the U.S. Capitol Building on Jan. 6.Then, earlier this month, according to court documents, the agent received a call on his work cell phone from a person he believed to be Ramey who asked if it was him and, cryptically, “And you still live at [your affiant’s home address]?” When the agent asked who was calling, Ramey reportedly hung up immediately. A short time later, the agent said, he received a text message from the same number which included the VIN for a vehicle he’d previously owned. The agent then received a follow-up text reading, “Check that VIN number. .” www.wusa9.com/article/news/national/capitol-riots/proud-boy-sent-menacing-texts-to-fbi-agent-investigating-capitol-riot-doj-says-barry-bennett-ramey-miami-enrique-tarrio/65-97dc8037-ebb3-444c-8493-f438eb3b2e6e#:~:text=Barry%20Bennett%20Ramey%20was%20arrested%20Thursday%20morning%20on,Jan.%206%20assault%20on%20the%20U.S.%20Capitol%20Building.

At the last count the score on "voter fraud" court cases are 0-60 against the plaintiffs. I guess some people have to learn the hard way: Jurors reject array of defenses at Capitol riot trialsJurors have heard — and rejected — an array of excuses and arguments from the first rioters to be tried for storming the U.S. Capitol. The next jury to get a Capitol riot case could hear another novel defense this week at the trial of a retired New York City police officer. Thomas Webster, a 20-year veteran of the NYPD, has claimed he was acting in self-defense when he tackled a police officer who was trying to protect the Capitol from a mob on Jan. 6, 2021. Webster's lawyer also has argued that he was exercising his First Amendment free speech rights when he shouted profanities at police that day.
Webster, 56, will be the fourth Capitol riot defendant to get a jury trial. Each has presented a distinct line of defense. An Ohio man who stole a coat rack from a Capitol office testified he was “following presidential orders” from Donald Trump. An off-duty police officer from Virginia claimed he only entered the Capitol to retrieve a fellow officer. A lawyer for a Texas man who confronted Capitol police accused prosecutors of rushing to judgment against somebody prone to exaggerating. Those defenses didn't sway the juries at their respective trials. Collectively, a total of 36 jurors unanimously convicted the three rioters of all 17 counts in their indictments. www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/jurors-reject-array-of-defenses-at-capitol-riot-trials/ar-AAWyufM?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=e598f95be8cd456d8854ada5e7650bdd

At the last count the score on "voter fraud" court cases are 0-60 against the plaintiffs. IIRC it finally finished up somewhere closer to 0-85. I believe they had one win, in PA, which was overturned by a higher court.

McCarthy is doing a SQUIRREL routine. After a recording of his talking to Liz Cheney about Trump being at fault in the 1/6 situation and urging Trump to resign comes out to contradict his statement on the floor of the House that he didn't do such a thing, he's taking to the road. To the Mexican border in Texas to talk about illegals entering the US...a tried and true distraction for the base. (Trump forgives him anyway.)

I've not seen this in NYT or Washington Post but The Hill has this:
Gonna be must see tv for me, but I fear most people won't be watching. This isn't the Watergate era when all 3 networks carried John Dean's testimony.

The Select Committee has been very strategic with these letter requests for witnesses to come testify. They lay out the case for calling the person in very carefully as a statement to the witnesses that the Committee knows a lot about them and they clue the media and the public in on what has been discovered. It won't convince these 3 guys to come forward...they're in it for the fight, that's been their motivation forever. They want to run out the clock of the 2022 election cycle.

Not directly from the committee but I'm sure they've had this info for a while. John Eastman was working directly with a PA state rep to steal Pennsylvania's election.
From the first link Diamond's current statements that he didn't even consider doing it really don't square with his actions because of course they don't.
On a side note this piece of shit had two different restraining orders filed against him by two different women. Notice his vote (bold mine) to protect violent shits like himself from losing their guns.

Not that they'll comply but 5 Congress Critters just got subpoenaed to testify before the Select Committee. Guess who? OK I'll tell you: Some of them should be mad at Meadows for releasing text messages.

When you get them by the wallet, they will think twice about it. One would think the easiest crime to prove was "filing a false instrument". Fake Wisconsin Trump Electors, Already Under DOJ Investigation, Now Face Civil Suit, Too
The fake Donald Trump electors who signed official documents falsely claiming that their candidate had won Wisconsin in 2020 and whose actions are already under review by federal prosecutors are now facing a state lawsuit that could cost each of them $200,000 in damages. The suit, prepared by the Institute for Constitutional Advocacy and Protection in Washington, D.C., and the Law Forward pro-democracy group in Wisconsin, was filed on behalf of two electors who cast their ballots for the state’s actual winner, Democrat Joe Biden, as well as a Wisconsin voter not involved in the Electoral College vote but who argues that the fraud adversely affected her as well. www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/fake-wisconsin-trump-electors-already-under-doj-investigation-now-face-civil-suit-too/ar-AAXnMrv?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=e7ca4b24f1cf4ced978274579a2ea98f

Gym Jordan is demanding everything the committee has on him before he's willing to testify. Huh. So much for "if you haven't done anything wrong then what are you afraid of?"
Of course he'd just take the info, run to Faux News, screech about it with dials turned to 11, and then not testify.

American fascists and terrorist supporters Rep. Andy Biggs and Rep. Mo Brooks are whining about being subpoenaed to testify. Hillary Clinton has more balls then the entire lot of them put together. Also a LOT less guilt.
Biggs complained that Pelosi wouldn't let those involved in supporting an insurrection on the committee.
Brooks quintupled down on The Big Lie which, of course, is his entire basis for supporting an insurrection.
You can no longer vote Republican and claim to believe in democracy.

These guys... Back in Spring 2021 there was a proposal from a Dem and a Rep Congressmember to create a commission like the one that investigated 9/11. That was torpedoed and partly it was because Reps wanted to fold the protests over George Floyd into the investigation. SQUIRREL! Then this Select Committee is formed and Reps were invited to put people on it, but the ones McCarthy suggested were in the "insurrection class"...folks not interested in truth, one of whom Jordan had already proven himself to be a loud mouthed grandstander in other investigative committees. And whoops Jordan is probably under subpoena now anyway.

When Steve Bannon dies I will celebrate it as a win for democracy.
I could have just as easily put this under the fascism thread since the questioning and ultimate destruction of all sources of power that do not bend to the will of the state is of paramount importance.

Bannon's lawyers (and others) give lawyer's a bad reputation. There is a concept of client control...telling a client that it's not going to work...is a waste of time and the client's money...and there is a concept of "firing" a client under some circumstances. Maybe the lawyers will leave when Bannon's grift money runs out.
