With the nation having a knipshin about the Yankees and their "performance" vs the Astros I give you Yogi:
It's never happened in the World Series competition, and it still hasn't.
Yogi Berra
I also found this one. I have not posted it on my FB page because of the fear of being horsewhipped.
The guy stroked his goatee. "What do you call twenty guys watching the world series?" "The New York Yankees," Butch replied.

Butch is correct. Yankees done been swept and will be watching the series on tv. They at least made a better try during this final game.

In commemoration of the loss, I present the last stanza of "Casey at the Bat"
Oh, somewhere in this favored land the sun is shining bright;
The band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light,
And somewhere men are laughing, and somewhere children shout;
But there is no joy in Mudville - mighty Casey has struck out.

Continuing the World Series theme. (Phillies won game 1 6-5 in 10 innings.)
Baseball was, is and always will be to me the best game in the world.

Babe Ruth It sure was last night Four times winning game 1 on the road. For a team that shouldn't be there, they are sure exceeding expectations.

More baseball insights by a true master of the game:
I led the league in go get 'em next time.

I want to add this to show Philadelphia's sporting attitude:
The highlight of my baseball career came in Philadelphia's Connie Mack Stadium when I saw a fan fall out of the upper deck. When he got up and walked away, the crowd booed.

Bob Uecker The first games I went to as a child were in Connie Mack Stadium, in west Philadelphia. It was a classic old “shed” park, until the completion of Veteran’s Stadium, down in the part of south Philly where JFK Stadium sat empty most years except for the Army Navy football game every fall.

Sigh. I didn’t move to the area until the Phils had already moved to “The Vet.” My frame of reference for Connie Mack Stadium (nee Shibe Park) was seeing the TV news coverage the day they tore it down, well after baseball had vacated the place and it was a derelict shell. Sigh.

Sigh. I remember that before the last out of the last game played at Connie Mack the fans began to tear seats and any souvenirs they could get from the park, since it was supposed to be torn down. If memory serves me, they had at least one arson fire there before the wrecking ball. Did you do some education in Philadelphia? I think at one point there were 5 medical schools in the city, and there are ring of pharmaceutical firms in all directions within an hour drive, including J&J in central New Jersey. Philadelphia is quite a hub for medical research. My mother was a nursing graduate from Penn. I grew up about an hour west of the city, in dairy farm areas.

And yup, the arson fire was in maybe ’74 or ‘75; IIRC that fire was something approaching the final straw for getting it torn down. In the Philadelphia area, the education I did was late elementary/about half of middle school, and that in South Jersey. The closest I came to a return to the area to live as an adult was when I got as far as an interview for a post-doc position at what was then SmithKline-Beecham in the mid-‘90s. Via his undergrad days, Chem PhD is better acquainted with the farm country in that part of PA than I am. Interestingly, two acquaintances of mine from grad school days are on med school faculties there now, and one set of family friends has been there and in the chemical/pharmaceutical business for about a quarter-century.

Near Camden—Pennsauken, later to Cinnaminson—and gone shortly after Carter moved into 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Football is violence and cold weather and sex and college rye.

Back from Philly !! Expected "time on station" more than a week. The return we reap from generous actions is not always evident.
