In solidarity with the folks in Buffalo:
We had discovered an accursed country. We had found the Home of the Blizzard.
Douglas Mawson
Some years ago, I heard a story by a Buffalo native, about when the white settlers came. Looking for a place to settle, they saw the Natives were not in a particular area. They decided that was the place to establish Buffalo NY. I suppose we now know WHY the Natives did not live in that area.

Though it doesn't get nearly as snowed in as Buffalo usually.

ETA: In solidarity with Buffalo, I will be partaking from a bottle of Buffalo Trace Bourbon at tonight's happy hour.

I may have to try this quote sometime.
Shut the door not that it lets in the cold, but that it lets out the coziness.

Right now in Upstate NY: 32F with a wind chill of 20F. This is why I hung my outside lights earlier in the month.
It was an ideal day for football - too cold for the spectators and too cold for the players.

Thanksgiving dinners take eighteen hours to prepare. They are consumed in twelve minutes. Half-times take twelve minutes. This is not coincidence.

Bonus thought of the day:
When women are depressed, they eat or go shopping. Men invade another country. It's a whole different way of thinking.

Trees are not living things? You're the second person who has said that about the quote. Take it up with the author. georgerrmartin.com/
