I think it's a sign. The flammable liquid sign you see on oil and gas tankers. You are correct. If you're really interested, just google Pinto recalls I remember the Pinto stuff really well. I was in a criminal justice class when the news of Ford's risk analysis on Pintos exploding because of a rear end collision came out. The retired DA who was teaching the class talked about the homicide charges that ultimately did not prevail. At the time, my roommate had a 1975 Pinto hatchback.

With apologies to Rich and islander Turn on the close captioning! My husband has it on for American shows too...it preserves my hearing.

British detectives - hah!! When I was about 20 I met a woman who was from the Gorbals and to this day I have no idea what the heck she was talking about ...... and don't get me started on the Newcastle accent . I went to drama school in my misspent youth and can speak with a hi falutin' accent (I've been elocuted you know ) which nowadays is overlaid with a bit of T'rona but wobbling into island-speak. Language & accents is a fascinating area of study (I've started re-reading the Story of English from the PBS series back in the mid 80's - all but episodes 1 & 3 can be seen on UTube)

With apologies to Rich and islander Is the complaint about our impenetrable accents or the abominable sound quality of the shows? Mostly the accent. Some of us understand the speech after some repeated exposure (me) and others cannot (my husband). I end up "translating" for him.

When we were in Europe years ago we tried to watch a BBC sitcom called "Two Pints of Lager and a Bag of Crisps." We lasted 10 minutes. We literally couldn't piece together enough words from one of the characters to follow what was going on.

I always turn them on, even for British shows, because often the sound is bad or the speakers are speaking too fast andor slurring their words. (And, horribile dictu, as I get older I don't get any younger.

"Are my snake charming skills good enough?" he wonders. "Can his flute tame my wilds?" she wonders.

She left out the trucks and beer that are usually in this song, which explains the oops I killed my husband part.

Like this song by Carrie Underwood ? www.youtube.com/watch?v=WaSy8yy-mr8PS: I would be VERY VERY upset if that happened to my Big Bird. Having dated a "southern girl", some of these "activities" are not too far off from reality.
