Not really "new" most of you know me from the old Frum Forum which morphed to TRS which is now in a new incarnation as TRSII.
Born and raised most of my life in Connecticut. I have spent a total of five years in Italy attended Italian first three grades of grammar school in Italy with Italian nuns. Did my Senior year at an American High School in Rome Italy. Just think of the HS you attended and move it to Rome. Came back to the states to attend Seton hall University where I proceeded to get grades that were an insult to my intelligence. Entered the Army as a Second Lt in 1972. Met my lovely wife in a Hangar at Myrtle Beach AFB in March of 1973. (Married in 1977) She was a member of the Girl's Drill team from my school. Was part of the Reduction in Force that happened after Vietnam. Joined the Guard where I continued my career for another 26 years retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. That handome couple in the avatar is us in 2016.
ETA: Along the way in this life journey, I earned a Master's Degree in Public Administration in 1989.
Spent my civilian career mostly in Government. Final job was 21 years with the USPS 1995 to 2016. (I retired with 10 years of creditable service which gave me 31 years for retirement calculations)
My wife Karen spent her entire career after graduation as a Nurse. She did her final 20 as a School Nurse for the local district.
We're both retired and involved with the local Corvette Club. We've been traveling a lot. In 2019 we did all of Route 66 in our Corvette.
TRS has been a lifesaver for me. I can post relevant and erudite articles on a variety of subject to which (most of the time) no one has problems with. Fun stuff !!
I hope no one got bored.

"HEEEERE'S Donnie!!!!" and all that Jazz. It's 0915 BST. I set myself up on here ten hours ago. I haven't decided yet how much of a factual striptease I'll do; all this is so sudden . . . . Greetings to one and all. Your name is RichTBikkies, and don't forget it.

1In all seriousness, a "Post-Doc" is one who has completed a Ph.D., but is in further training before taking a position in academia or industry. In the sciences (such as chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, probably physics too), the post-doc period can be anywhere from 2 years...to very nearly an entire career. Ostensibly, the purpose is to gain complementary skills before embarking on an independent research career; oftentimes it's as much about gaining the network and being in a "holding pen" until the "real jobs" open up. After I had Dear Son and wanted to return to the workforce, I had to return as a post-doc, as I didn't have enough credentials to do much else.

So I'll just comment (my first in the new digs) that while Bact PhD deserves huge props for setting this board up, her status as Admin does preclude the hilarious (to my mind) possibility of her being listed as Bact PhD, Undergraduate.

So a little about me, since I never really introduced myself at the old site.
I'm a science geek, whose academic background is in physics, although I'm now pretending to be a biologist (how that happened is quite a long story, involving having a very rare disease with no treatment, leading me to join the effort to find one myself). I grew up quite near GV's neck of the woods, but now live in the Pacific Northwest, with a stint in Upstate NY and a much longer one in the DC area in between.
Politically, I would probably be a conservative in any country except the US. Which puts me pretty far left on our political spectrum.

Rue Bella - undergraduate. Makes me feel young again. I started in art, but switched to botany, which was far more interesting and fun. The two disciplines in many ways were similar, except for the lingo and the field work. I would also label myself a conservative... but not what the hateful, ignorant GOP considers conservative. And I like cats.

Since baw1064 referenced my location and I realize I have no personal info in here, I'll offer some. I live in Northern California, Sacramento to be specific. I've lived in the Midwest and the South too. I was a poly sci major, am a law school grad. I'm retired at a young age and dabble in a lot of volunteer work. I don't know where I am on the conservative liberal scale. I used to say I was a moderate, but the continuum has shifted to the point where I don't know what to characterize myself as.

As some of you know, I am a communist. In fact, I am the only communist sales manager in the world. My sales team is filled with Marxists and fascists. If any of you want free communist advice written in drivel format, let me know.

Hey, all. I, too, came to TRS from Frum Forum. I'm still here, and thankful to Bact for setting it all up. Whatever happens, gang's back together. I will always miss Charles, who brought us all together when FF disbanded.
I will have to learn more about this site, to post signature lines. But for now-
Darn glad to see you-one and all.
