Its been a while but looks like the Ukraine is advancing into Russia. Putin is mad the world isn't condemning the incursion (Another article). Oh well.. Ukraine-Russia war latest: Kyiv troops seize largest Russian town yet as Zelensky hints at further offensives
Ukraine’s surprise incursion into Russia has seen troops advance further into enemy territory on Thursday. The audacious attack by Ukrainian soldiers in tanks and armoured vehicles is the largest attack on Russia since the Second World War.
On Thursday, Ukraine’s Colonel General Oleksandr Syrskyi said forces had moved forward almost a mile in 24 hours with 82 settlements now under Kyiv’s control. www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/ukraine-russia-war-putin-zelensky-kursk-drones-latest-news-b2596618.htmlPutin's whining: Russia calls out Ukraine allies at UN for silence on Kursk assaultwww.reuters.com/world/europe/russia-calls-out-ukraine-allies-un-silence-kursk-assault-2024-08-13/(Historical fact: the Krusk Battle during WWII was the largest tank battle in history at the time.) Remember when Tucker said Ukraine was "losing"? So far Tucker seems to be the loser. I have no idea on the credibility of the Irish Times. Of note in the article, Putin is looking at using the "Nuclear Card". Ukraine destroys key Russian stronghold as Putin makes terrifying nuclear moveUkraine has reportedly used missiles to destroy key bridges inside Russia today, disrupting Vladimir Putin's war supply lines. Images reveal the aftermath of a HIMARS missile strike over the Seim River in the Kursk region, which is partially occupied by Kyiv's forces. This latest development is seen as another setback for Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin, who is now said to be "dancing to Zelensky's tune." The bridge in Glushkovsky district was obliterated in a second strike, after the first attempt damaged but did not destroy the structure. www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/ukraine-destroys-key-russian-stronghold-as-putin-makes-terrifying-nuclear-move/ar-AA1oY7oH?ocid=msedgntp&pc=HCTS&cvid=701abfdaa06f4622a11050e04211f140&ei=10

The headline is misleading. The 2/3 figure is total Russian losses since the war began. In this offensive they estimate Russia lost 1200 soldiers. Once again, I have no idea on the credibility of the Irish Times. I can assume they're getting info from other sources. Nightmare for Putin as he 'loses two-thirds of Russia's forces' with 1,120 dead in a dayAccording to the General Staff of Ukraine's Armed Forces, Russia suffered 1,120 troop casualties in just the last 24 hours, pushing the total count of killed and wounded to 600,470. Before the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, the Russian Armed Forces numbered approximately 900,000 personnel. It's estimated that between 150,000 to 190,000 soldiers were part of the initial assault in February 2022. In response to the conflict, Putin has bolstered his forces, issuing a decree in August 2022 to recruit an additional 137,000 troops, followed by another 170,000 in December 2023. www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/nightmare-for-putin-as-he-loses-two-thirds-of-russia-s-forces-with-1-120-dead-in-a-day/ar-AA1p6Ixn?ocid=msedgntp&pc=HCTS&cvid=62d00d10b66f49adad633b62642a8bbf&ei=27

The thing about Russia is that they already had something of crisis given their aging and declining population. This war and the resulting deaths and emigration is really going to cost them twice, once now and once in the future.

Too bad there isn't a revolt against Putin for this but I doubt the population has the energy to do that.

The population suffers from mass vertigo and tends to fall out of windows.
