I wish I could find it, but I think I read recently that Fox has announced a large carrying cost increase to the cable providers. I wonder how this might effect it.

No, but they do to the carriage fees. If cable subscribers demand access to fox, then fox can raise the fees. I think they mentioned in that article I linked to above that fox is the only cable channel that is profitable on carriage fees alone. No ad revenue required (not that they don't want that too of course).

On the eve of what was expected to be the most closely watched defamation trial in a generation, the board of Fox Corp. last month reviewed a text message that Tucker Carlson, a prime-time star on Fox News, had sent to one of his producers in early 2021.

In the message, he described himself watching a video of Donald Trump supporters beating up someone he referred to as “an Antifa kid.” Carlson wrote of his conflicting emotions, hinting at his dismay that he had found himself “rooting for the mob against the man, hoping they’d hit him harder, kill him.”

But in the most startling passage, Carlson asserted flatly that “jumping a guy like that is dishonorable obviously. It’s not how white men fight.”

I find the below to quite interesting.  He's quite a mix of emotions here:

In his lengthy message sent Jan. 7, 2021, in the hours after a violent mob stormed the Capitol, Carlson went on: “I really wanted them to hurt the kid. I could taste it. Then somewhere deep in my brain, an alarm went off: this isn’t good for me. I’m becoming something I don’t want to be. The Antifa creep is a human being. Much as I despise what he says and does, much as I’m sure I’d hate him personally if I knew him, I shouldn’t gloat over his suffering. I should be bothered by it. I should remember that somewhere somebody probably loves this kid, and would be crushed if he was killed. If I don’t care about those things, if I reduce people to their politics, how am I better than he is?”

The message came after an exchange in which Carlson referred to President Donald Trump as “a demonic force, a destroyer.”

So if he think Trump is a destroyer why is he hating the kid getting beat up by folks defending Trump in the "not an insurrection"?

And then I wonder about this:  apparently the Fox Board of Directors didn't know about these texts until just before the Dominion Voting Systems case was about to go to trial.  I'm sure the text was obtained during discovery on the case.  How does the corporation work so that texts from an employee that can be used against the company are not revealed to the powers that be in the company?

Is anybody still so thick at this point that they don't accept that Tucker is a white supremacist, and not just for ratings? He's the real deal. He probably owns a white polo and a tiki torch.

He is the real deal, but white boys routinely jumped black boys back in the day...sometimes wearing white robes while doing so.  Or is it that white boys aren't supposed to do that to other white boys?

I'm sure some viewers are just dumping Faux over axing Tucker, but Hannity was apparently getting a big coattails effect.

According to Showbiz411, Sean Hannity's show had 2.7 million viewers on April 13th. That was while white nationalist Tucker Carlson was still on the network.

But now that he's gone, so are most of Fox's viewers. And now poor Sean, whose show followed Tucker's, only has half his former viewers.

As Roger Friedman of Showbiz411 astutely points out, "It's not helping that Hannity's lead in now is not the fired Tucker Carlson but a miscellaneous show that has also dropped. The 8pm slot is getting no numbers. But if Hannity was so dependent on Carlson's numbers, what does that say for him anyway?"

Fox may have ripped the bandaid by getting rid of the sexist, abusive Carlson, but now they are having a hard time staunching the bleeding.

According to Axios, Carlson is ready to escalate his battle with the network. A person described as a “close Carlson friend” told Axios that, up until now, the fired host has been telling friends “I want to get this done quiet and clean.” But now, according to the friend, Carlson is about to change tactics.

“We’re going from peacetime to Defcon 1,” Carlson’s friend told the outlet. “His team is preparing for war. He wants his freedom.”

A Carlson source told Axios that the fired host “knows where a lot of bodies are buried, and is ready to start drawing a map.”

Of course Faux News won't go quietly and, of course, won't fight clean. He'll get the full Faux News treatment, where they cover every story about him to the nth degree while burying all the things he's trying to dredge up. He'll be smeared as a traitor to conservatism where there are facts and buried by people "just asking the questions." In other words, he'll get Fauxed in the way he made a career out of. The rest of us will read about the dirt he produces but not Faux viewers.

Tucker would have to hope he has critical mass with those who watched him, but that remains to be seen.

Judge Shoots Down Tucker Carlson’s ‘Cherry-Picked Videos’ of January 6 in Scathing Ruling Tossing QAnon Shaman’s Bid to Dismiss Conviction

[Q-Anon Shamam] Chansley completed his sentence after being convicted of obstruction of Congress and was released early, but wanted the conviction dismissed based on footage of the insurrection that was shown on Fox News by former host Tucker Carlson before he was fired. Chansley claimed that the video “undermines his conviction” and was “duplicative of police body-camera footage he was given months before he decided to plead guilty.”

Judge Royce C. Lamberth disagreed in a 35-page ruling against Chansley:

These videos are decidedly not exculpatory. Such footage, conveniently omitted by the [Fox News] program, shows nearly all of Mr. Chansley’s actions that day, including: carrying a six-foot-long pole armed with a spearhead, unlawfully entering the Capitol through a broken door, disobeying orders from law enforcement on more than a half-dozen occasions, screaming obscenities, entering the Senate chamber, climbing onto the Senate dais, sitting in the Vice President’s chair, and leaving a threatening message for the Vice President.

But Lamberth had harsh words for Carlson as well:

The host explicitly questioned the integrity of this Court — not to mention the legitimacy of the entire U.S. criminal justice system — with inflammatory characterizations of cherry-picked videos stripped of their proper context, language resembling the destructive, misguided rhetoric that fueled the events of January 6 in the first place.

Looks like Tucker is seeking a new audience.  Is no one paying enough attention to him the US since he lost Fox as a platform?

He had it for a while on Fox but then Murdoch got rid of him and now he's doing this.  He says something like "we're doing our job" Who is we?  Seems like it's just Tucker and maybe now his buddy Musk?

Seems like Tucker didn't realize he was permitted to "interview" Putin so he could be a punching bag.  Not like Tucker ever intended to ask "sharp questions" because he wants Putin to like him, maybe thought he was doing Putin a favor by giving him a platform on TwitX. Putin just needs to show dominance over an American "journalist."
